Hey guys,

Took last season off (glad I did) as I sold my sled before the season started and didn't end up buying anything to replace it.

This year I'm getting back into it again but having a hard time deciding which way I want to go for a sled. Here's what I've narrowed it down to:

2024 Khaos 155 Slash 850 NA
2024 Summit Edge 146 850 NA

I normally spend most of my time but not all in the mountains and I like to jump. I like rowdy shorter sleds and have never owned anything longer than 154/155. No brand loyalty as I've had them all. Haven't ridden any sleds newer than 2015.

The Khaos is roughly $1500 cheaper than the Summit with rebates on right now.

Summit is a shorter 146 which I like the idea of, can't find any 146s left in a Khaos so 155 is as close as I can get.

I know the 146 will suffer in the deep deep days but I don't seem to catch that many crazy deep ones anyway and am a fairly light guy now (168lb and dropping, down from 225lb last December).

My wife is also wanting to give it a go this year so I expect I'll be finding myself on milder slopes and some trails while she learns the ropes before hopefully moving onto more technical terrain.

Expected riding areas would be Golden BC, Cataract Creek AB, Crowsnest Pass AB, Fernie BC or Elkford BC.

What do you guys think? Polaris makes me nervous with the recalls as of late and seemingly lower resale than the Doo's but probably a better all around sled for deeper days. I would hope to keep either sled for 3-4 years.

Skidoo is more up front cost but I expect the residual would be better and maybe more of the rowdyness I am after being a 146.

What do you guys think?

yea, with the 16" wide surface area they wont be far apart. Remember the Skidoo has shot start, that eats up the 1500$ difference as that is an amazing feature. Now your just left with a more reliable sled for the same $$$. The other thing no one talks about is skidoos 850 outperforms the Polaris 850. The rotax 850 is a much closer performer to the polaris 9R engine. Lots of videos online of them running neck and neck in deep climbs.

The 155 Khaos 9R is as rowdy as they get.. The recalls for the most are/were a little over rated. Brake issue was resolved, fuel issue ended up being a sticker to remind you what fuel to use🙄… Ive personally not had an issue with the P22 clutch on the 9R, (have two of them) but it sounds like they have that sorted out.

Both great sleds, can't go wrong with either for what you're looking for. Which dealer has better service is a factor.

I luv the feel of the Polaris chassis and it’s lighter. I put about 1500 km on both a n/a 850 and my khaos boost and no issues except a couple sets of plugs . Don’t read into all the bullch!t they all can have there issues. The 7s to me is worth every penny . Easy to get a na without e-start close to 500 lbs ready to ride

Thanks for the replies everybody, definitely a few considerations I hadn't thought of so I'm glad I posted. I'll post up a pic once I decide which way to go and pick up the new beast.

Hey guys, one more question!

I've yet to ride anything that is short tunnel... Is it a must have now?

I've gotten back a quote that is significantly cheaper than all others but it is with a full length tunnel as that is all they have.

Would I regret it? Ant impact to resale later on?

Seems like almost everything is short tunnel now, I know it has multiple benefits I just haven't ridden one so not sure if I "need" it. Guessing it would also run a bit hotter on a trail?

I wouldn't worry about the short tunnel vs long unless you're wanting to do bowties all day long.
If it's a polaris you can just cut the tunnel off anyway.
