Hello everyone, just an update to inform you that Hotrod will commence building the Renshaw trail starting on Tuesday Nov.26th. This usually takes 3-4 days to complete so please be aware he will be on that trail during daytime hours! Use caution! It also means trail fees will be collected starting next weekend!! As of this time Lucielle and Belle trails are low on snow and probably will not be groomed until there is sufficent snow to do so! But that could change depending on the weather. Ride Safe! Higgins.

Good to start grooming or setting the trail BEFORE it is all pounded up with moguls right down to dirt. When that memory get set into a trail you are stuck with it all season. Good going on early trail work Rod.

Too late.. Trail is beat up really bad past about km 17-20. ( wherever the pullout with the sign is). It will be great to get the groomer in there and fill in run off crossings!!! None the less snow was good up top. Heading back up tomorrow!

Groomer drag will need to work hard to cut those moguls off. Perfect trail would set by the tracked unit and packer pan without any sleds over it first. Moguls down to dirt from early riding will be felt ALL season. Same as building a road. Needs to be packed smooth right down deep.

Anyways riders Hotrod has done a 1st rough groom of the Renshaw trail! The parking lot is poor and the first kilometer or two are very skimpy also. The deactivations were filled and the chute to the cabin was bladed only. He did say he was catching a number of rocks and logs with the tracks as he went up the chute. He's back on the trail tomorrow to continue the work. BUT PLEASE REMEMBER, it is still just the start of the riding season and more snow is needed! The hidden gems are just waiting for the unsuspecting! Some of you will come home with carnage! Thats just part of the game when you're riding the hills! So Please RIDE SAFE! Higgins.

Just informed the Renshaw trail has been completed for the start of the 2013/14 riding season. Riders can park in the lower parking lot across the first bridge until snow conditions improve. The first 5km are not the best so please take it easy, you don't have to go "Mach Z" to get up there! Trail passes will be in effect. No grooming at Lucielle or Belle yet! First casualty of the season, a sledder approached Hotrod about who does sled recovery in the area, apparently his first ride on his brand new Doo, motor went down! Higgins.

Ya well this one made it about 1 and a half kms into the valley past the cabin. Two noticable issues. Oil all over the inside of the engine compartment. The ceramic porcelin around the center electrode on the spark plug broke off and went into the cylinder. Engine had a horrible knocking sound when we got it to start. Electric start only-no pull cord-didnt take long to kill the battery. It was quite the ordeal using rope and a pulley and a plastic sleigh getting the sled out in whiteout conditions. Needless to say,Buddy is very disappointed with his brand new Summit X with less than 50k on it.

I would like to say thanks to all the people in Mcbride who helped us with our rescue mission. Awesome folks for sure-Glen and Clint at Spindrift,The manager and staff at the Giggling Grizzly for the free taxi rides shooters and snacks, the staff at Home Hardware and the guy at the collection booth who never collected any money from us as we were on a rescue mission and not riding. I gave him a $20 anyway without getting a pass and told him to give it to Hotrod as I figured he deserved it for the grooming he did the day before. Small town-Big people. Thanks All!

Who would you use to heli a machine out now?

Yellowhead Helicopters out of Valemount. The local helicopter guy moved his chopper to Hinton. Yellowhead charges about $2,500 +/- Your best bet here is to call Rod @ Adrenaline Services. He does sled rescues and hasn't been skunked yet. Substantially cheaper than $2,500.
