So for the Albertans that don't register their sleds in Alberta because they doo all their riding in BC do they now need to register in Alberta or can they register in BC and not pay the %12.

I would assume (and I don't like to assume), that one would need a BC address to register in BC and a BC driver's license. Good thing there is a year's grace to work out all the idiosyncrasies :d

I would think to register as a "BC resident" one would need a "BC Drivers Licence", and then would get nailed the extra taxes on their sled, truck, etc etc.

Much cheaper to pay the $50 in Alberta annually.

Why not just register in Alberta, and then you KNOW you don't have to worry about the 12%? Can still ride in BC, no problem.

that's the point that Glen is trying to make, for years we've heard "I only ride BC I don't need an Alberta registration", or "I only ride BC why whould I buy an Alberta Trail Pass"...... the times, they are a changing.

I'll say that I don't care for the extra taxes either, for example, we now have to pay PST on the used truck we now buy, even from a private sale, we never used to have to do that. I also don't like the idea of the metal plate on a sled, the only safe spot is riveted to the tunnel! I've attached a few Q and A from the BCWF site....Sherm

and with that goes an Alberta address. TylerG is correct, the Albertans that ride BC and don't get an Alberta registration will be open for BC penalties once the enforcement kicks in. No longer should the Alberta clubs here, "I only ride in BC!"

Well I have both Alberta and BC address. Pay property taxes in both. Work equal amount in both provinces.
I want that good deal on insurance BCSF members get with Capri. You need a BC address for that. You need a BC License too is my question?
My sleds will never see Alberta.

The BCSF has a club in Corbin (on the very eastern edge of the East Kootenays. It has it's "headquarters" in Brooks, AB. Let me do some checking.

You are right about having to register the sled in Alberta if you don't want to be dinged in BC. It's been a few years since I've written such a ticket though. With respect to "just" getting a BC licence, you have to prove residency which can open up a whole new can of worms......Sherm

Interesting...picked up my bcsa passes today. 70 bucks for liability is waaay less than I have been paying to be legal.

Mine are registeed in Alberta but have never been there. The insurance is 700 a sled so I can get that 50 buck a year plate. BC residents get that cheaper.
Just a different form of taxation I guess.

I would say keep insuring there and don't register. It is voluntary now. Remember the gun registry.

Not correct. PST has always applied on private sales of used vehicles at time of registration. We didn't, and still don't pay GST. It used to be 7% PST. Now the thieves raised it to 12% PST. A little thankyou stab in the back from the BC Government for making them take back their friggin HST.

Why does the word "acronym" have so many letters?

Yes our cars where and the 10 should be too

I bought my sled in b.c a few months before we moved but had it snow checked so

Only paid gst and insured it and registered it in Alberta right away

Plate is good to Dec, but not sure as now we have b.c licenses...

Funny thing is we gave our car plates in and just got the Alberta renewal lol for them
