good cops and bad ones

Alot of good cops who take care of the 5% of the population that we don't want to , but seen a sledder with alberta plates pulled over at the weigh scales as we were going home from Mcbride this weekend. We aren't sure but it didn't look like it was for a dui because they were on the side of the road watching their truck being loaded on a flatdeck. Just wondering if it was for not having winter tires on again, road conditions where dry at the time. I know they have to inforce the law but some times it seems a little overkill with the snow tires on out of province sledders. If the road conditions were bad or snow covered I would see the point but the polce out of valmont seem to be doing a little overkill.

I think it was getting towed because he had HID lights!I don't think they enforce the winter tires. I think it's more of a insurance thing. They can refuse your coverage in te event of an accident if you didn't have the proper tires

Maybe over his gvw? You don't need winter tires in BC but you have to have tire chains if you don't. Except over x# ( I think it's 5500 kg's) of gvw you have to have tire chains regardless.

Im all for cops pulling sledders over, even for no reason. As long as their checking VIN's for stolen sleds. When they do go hard checking VIN's it seems like a sled or 2 pops up stolen everytime so valemnount rcmp keep pullin us over! Its worth it. annnd this couldve probably went in another thread.....but we will all live.

I was pulled over a few weeks ago and didn't have the papers for my sled on me. The cops was one of those good cops i guess, he said he could have impounded my sleds because of this but let me go with a warning.

Yes guys i TALKED TO A GUY who got stopped last spring at the weigh scales in March. He said the part that pissed him of was he was on his way home good road conditions and he said that a ticket would have been fine but no they towed his rig and the price went way up. His group has been going to the mountains for 15 yrs plus and didn't realize this law was in affect,since all season tires have been in use for 20yrs plus in the province of sask. This conversation came up from quite a few groups who were in the cabin this winter and I was asked if I had winter tires on but I carrying chains instead which I use if needed . Quite a few groups said they have been sledding valemont for yrs and the police have been putting a bad taste in their mouth because of all the cheap little laws they are inforcing not checking for vin # which would be great but cheap little tickets like HID's so on and so on. This is not coming from one person this is coming from alot of groups of peaple who have been coming from different provinces to sled for yrs. You also don't hear of this happening in Mcbride or other areas. Was in Revelstoke in January and got checked by the RC's for my ID and thats it he didn't go check my tires for the snowflake he just said have a good day. So maybe I painted this stop I seen this weekend with a paint brush but DUI,warrents and such would have the guy in the police car not standing on the side of the road watching his truck being loaded and the police don't sit on the side of the road with their lights on for a tow. It would be interesting to see how many guys have been tagged in the valemont area compared to other areas we ride in. I'm not knocking the work the police do but in this area they seem to be tagging alot of out of province rigs for little petty laws.

i just dont get it.

last year i traveled from valemount to edmonton and back 96 times. then from there i traveled to allan creek etc and back 256 times. not to mention the miles i put on around town etc.

never an issue and never a ticket.

follow the law and let these threads die a peaceful death.

turn off your crappy lights, check the brakes on your trailer, tie down your junk, pull the drugs out of your back seat,buy a real truck with a real sled deck, leave your 1500 at home, throw the beer bottles out at a gas station, follow the speed limit, and dont be a dink and you wont have any problems!

alot of driving u sound like my friends wife drives perfect and everything anybody does is wrong. U never had a burnt out head light or tail light or ever get pulled over for nothing your perfect or lucky.
