I thought I was going to need to hire a private excavator to plow the road to get my truck out of forester Sunday night...other than that 25-30hrs of driving later I’m back in cgy. Typically u would get a lot further in distance. So yeah road conditions are great!

I was on the 93 last night too. 12 hours to get through. Good entertainment on LADD 1 some truck driver pepper spayed a guy. They were getting pist people where driving in the south bound lane headed north. There was a ton of snowmen on the shoulder.
My buddy was 15min in front of me, as I stopped for gas in Radium. He hit hwy 1 at 6:30am. I was 15min back in theory from Radium I got to hwy 1 at 10am..... 2 other of our friends turned around and went to Fernie....3 lanes of northbound traffic on a single lane hwy...

Pardon my ignorance fellas?

Is Forrester North of Radium thru the detour?

What were the road conditions, and how was it for the plow trucks keeping up to allow the traffic rerouted from highway 1 to flow?
On Sunday there were no plows or sanding trucks between golden and Banff. That was the main issue with the roads being so bad. Then add 500 stupid truckers that refused to chain up. There should be stiff penalties for the drivers, and companies for being spun on a hill without chains. On the 3rd infraction license should be pulled. Or, have a chain cop at the common chain up areas, and he doesn't let anyone move until they are chained up properly.

You had to drive in the south bound lane to get by all the morons parked behind an abandoned car or spun out trucks.
I said on the start of the Rogers Pass one time. No downhill traffic. We did about 20 minutes and then finally headed up the tunnels the wrong way I got to the last tunnel in that section and there was a semi spun out in the middle of the road with lots of room for traffic on either side to carry on slowly. Each lead car just sat there and watched

They run boat checks until November. Boat checks don’t save lives. A chain check is a good idea. It would save lives and millions of $$$

They didn’t got home till 2-3pm on Monday however, they slept in there trucks till 5 am on a road side turnout on 93 then headed towards TC and 10km later the hwy was at a standstill 12 hours later so they headed back to radium and on to Fernie...

Last time I was in Colorado they had a sign flashing on the interstate that said "IF THIS SIGN IS FLASHING AND YOU ARE NOT CHAINED UP $10,000 FINE". I bet it's pretty effective.

They have this in several mountain states, and it doesn’t just apply to semi‘s. Either by sign or highway patrol. You are either clunking jewelry or you are parked.

I have a friend coming from Medicine Hat to Revelstoke. Is 93 still a mess? I'm recommending he goes through Fernie instead of Calgary. Is that bad advice?

Not the same scenario but there are signs similar to that on Highway 22 on the eastern slope. When the wind gets up to a certain speed in the area of the Cougar Ranch, the sign flashes a warning for drivers. It is just an information sign and it doesn't carry fines. In other words, driver beware!

It's open and mostly clear, there's a rough icy section from numa falls to alberta border. I'm heading that way myself shortly on route to Camrose.

What ever happened to driving is a privilege, not a right...
I hope we have 2 driver licence, winter and summer, and if caught driving without winter privilege HUGE fines

Hey guys and gals…. I know everyone (including myself) likes to jump on the truckers for causing the problems here, but the issue is deeper than that. The next time you’re talking to your MLA/MP (because I know you all do…) be sure to question that person on why so much freight is being moved via truck rather than safer and more economical solutions (supposedly) like rail.

There’s a reason the rail was laid down in the first place. Extremely unfortunate that so many spur lines have been removed in western Canada, with CN/CP claiming these lines were uneconomic. BS… the spur lines may just not have been as LUCRATIVE as the main lines. Rail is federal jurisdiction, yet has so much regional impact that yes, a person should be lobbying both your MP and your MLA.

I think it’s simple from a government standpoint. It’s only safe to be Either your vaxed and are able to use the hwy or if your not vaxed you can not use the hwy. This would really solve the issues we are seeing.....
