Is this another way we are feeling the pain of Trump's Policies? Since it appears a lot of the vehicles produced in Oshawa are shipped to the US.

The Oshawa assembly plant, where GM Canada has its headquarters, produces the Chevrolet Impala and the Cadillac XTS cars, the majority of which are shipped south of the border, along with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks

Feel bad for all those people gonna be soon out of work. They don't have to worry though. Trudope will come in and save that day. Gotta keep buying those Eastern votes. Meanwhile oil & gas sector out here....

GM is laying off 18k workers worldwide and this is part of that global restructuring.

yup I’m sure good opportunity to close an uncompetitive plant in Canada, 1/5th of the global lay offs from that plant alone. Likely the liberal spin will be that poliitcal landscape in Canada had absolutely nothing to do with it, lol.

Well chalk this up to another of Trumps "kept" promises. If you recall this was mentioned by him several times during the trade negotiations. The impending carbon tax likely finished it off.

Canada is a horrible place to own a big corporation right now, corporate tax increases, (carbon tax) can literally affect everything, unions, governments that are not pro business buying a multi billion dollar pipeline that you could of had for free and taxed it and it’s workers but instead hand over cash to the company to run away with. My interest in politics use to be 0 I didn’t care as generally there was checks and balances Alberta was able to keep on trucking. I don’t think any one realized just how bad Trudeau was going to be for Canada he’s managed to drive away endless business and run up debt bring immigrants that are a draw on the system. I’m never happy to hear about real jobs like this being lost but if you owned GM why would you stay? I hope these unfortunate events will make Ontario voters think at the polls next year. In my eyes legalization was the only positive thing he has done that was well over due but it’s a big price to pay for allowing an economic powerhouse like Canada to its knees.

Another dolt in the mix is Morneau. I don't think he has two clues about the economy and all he has is some kind of left wing ideology. Between the two of them, there will be more big corporations that will realize the carbon tax, corporate tax, and the uncertainty of investment in Canada and they will fly the coup also.

We are in a real bad state and the people who love Trudope's hair/socks, his pot stand, his LBGQ stand, his non-energy stand, and his save the environment stand will all still vote for him.

I read that the union recommended that the workers all walk off the job and not return at this time. So if your waiting for your new truck or car that you ordered I guess it will sit for a while or wont be built. The plant is slated for shut down at the end of December 2019.
