i think the layoffs are just the beginning. With people getting away from buying cars and going for suv's and trucks if i was working at a car plant i would be very worried about now.
so are they not going to make trucks anymore?
We have already lost 3.5 billion to GM with the last bailout and now they shut down plants
in Canada and the US. How much did Mexico contribute to the bailout? Zero. The plants there have workers at 2$ an hour. They can’t afford to buy the vehicles they are building! Corporate welfare has to stop!!! The only consideration is the bottom line for shareholders - people and jobs are meaningless. Count me out on GMC vehicles.
The oshawa plant that's closing down produces the chevrolet impala, volt, cruze and the equinox.... Includes several electric vehicles... Hmmmmmm
That's because government doesn't understand the concept of anyone actually basing their decisions on making a profit. Government thinking is that it's okay to go in the red every year with no consequences. It's just like the government deficits that are run up every year with no real intention of ever dealing with them.I was thinking about this. As sad as it is for the high paid union workers, here is a corporate decision that has been made for various reasons and the government once again wants to step in think they can do a better job. Why doesn't the government leave business to business people and just try to make an environment suitable for them to function in.

Humm why does everyone think union workers are higher paid???
I know contactors that get $1000+ a day working at the same facility I am.
That definitely sucks for those workers but unfortunately it’s not just them look at us here in Alberta. Our unemployment is huge. The amount of people looking for work is huge. I get a pile of resumes and I work in residential construction it’s down right scary and driving around Calgary is kinda depressing right now. Maybe it’s just me. I am thankful to still have work but there are times I kinda see Alberta turning into a Detroit after all the auto sectors shut down. God I hope I’m wrong. Our country needs a change and we need oil to boom again. Look at the world. Oil drives the world and without it the money disappears. Trump is a crazy man but he is making his country prosper and he makes sure his people have work first looking out for his own country. Unfortunately our mighty leader(lol) can’t work with trump and is a joke to him. Just my 2 cents
You are absolutely correct. We sure could use a nice big war right about now!Oil does drive the world but one drives it harder. Bring up that comment to someone who really doesn’t get that fact, its a Interesting conversation. Unfortunately the one thing that drives the economy hard and fast is a war.
