Man go with a smaller 5th wheel and a quad trailer, don't require a big truck I know lots who do it with a 1500, I have a 21ft jayco eagle works great and a 12 ft quad trailer behind it, it works well can unhook if you have to, works great for us

I'd hate follow one of those guys down a 2 lane highway.

It works perfectly fine, if it's done properly......personally I prefer long box truck, deck and trailer, legal in BC then.

The bumper pull toy haulers are getting quite popular now....I'll be waiting to see how they hold up.

There isn't a half ton out there now that doesn't have enough power to pull that combination at highway speed (except maybe the dodge eco diesel and other economy sized motors).

I'd rather see a guy pulling 2 trailers with more axles properly distributing his load than a half ton with a quad in the box riding with the axle on the bump stops while pulling a travel trailer.

I agree on both accounts: 1/2 tons are very capable now but can still be overloaded. There are numerous combinations of truck/trailers that work but at the end of the day, you have to work with what you have. In this case, hadster is going to stick with using two vehicles as his Tacoma doesn't have the oomph to pull around the larger combination trailer he was asking about. It is only rated for 6500 pounds towing so while that truck is probably the perfect daily driver and addresses his pick-up needs, it isn't going to pull anything too big.

Back in the day, I pulled a boat behind my fifth wheel with my GMC 1/2 ton and the combination worked great. It was inside the rated overall capacity of the truck as the fifth wheel was a light model with no slides and the boat was a great little 15 foot Tinker with a 90 horse Johnson. Overall length was 65 feet 3 inches so just outside the allowed 65 feet. It did mean that we couldn't go into BC but that wasn't too much of an issue for us. Now with the camera systems, pulling a second trailer is very easy.

The thing is get hung up on the power to pull the trailer, the thing people need to focus on the power stop the trailers! A Ford ranger would pull a 30' trailer if needed, not fast but it would pull it but it would never stop it if needed to stop in a hurry

And I would add the over all stability as well ....
Again though for a toy outside on deck , his utv is too long. And you need a substantial enclosed toy hauler to haul a commander in side of it ..
One that you are not pulling with a half ton....( or shouldn't ).
