Just an observation from over the weekend.
We had a 100-110 acre fire on Friday, all of our burn bans were lifted about a month ago and things are really green. I have never seen green fuel burn like that. I think it is the fuel build-up that is being held in the underbrush from the last couple years, it looked almost as if the dead and older brush/grass/slash from last couple years that is "hiding" under the green is fueling the flame, superheating and burning the green anyways. Our light and flashy fuels were carrying low-moderate flame lengths for the types of fuel it was in, not too common for this time of year when you can barely get fire to carry.
Keep in mind even if the burn ban is off fire can and will still carry. Was an eye opener for me this last weekend!
