Went out this morning and staked some test strip spots for the silage guys to leave for crop insurance and cannot believe how much stuff has started to bolt and the amount of flowering is incredible. We wouldn’t be able to combine it even if we wanted now at this point.

Big weather change next week and some showers this week. Probably should have just combined it. I doubt these guys will get this done now. Be a frikken mess in the spring to deal with

Ran cart for a buddy this harvest. They’ve been farming the area for 70 plus years. Biggest canola yield they’ve ever had. Just over 79 bu/acre. North of Edmonton
For reference got the paperwork from 90 acres of canola today 334 bu net on 90 acres. 3.7bu/acre. That’s why we quit combining it.

So me not being a farmer, what could you grow on 130 arable acres to pay off the 1.5 mill. and how long would it take?
U need to have alot of other land paid for in order to make that scenario work, and float that payment across many acres, depedning on the yeilds but that wont be making tbem money for 15 years min

Exactly this. You basically have to jeopardize your entire operation to expand by 5% in this area. No thanks, I'll stay small.
