Second crop is gonna make 25bu/ac. No frost until the middle of December.Went out this morning and staked some test strip spots for the silage guys to leave for crop insurance and cannot believe how much stuff has started to bolt and the amount of flowering is incredible. We wouldn’t be able to combine it even if we wanted now at this point.
Big weather change next week and some showers this week. Probably should have just combined it. I doubt these guys will get this done now. Be a frikken mess in the spring to deal withSecond crop is gonna make 25bu/ac. No frost until the middle of December.
Ran cart for a buddy this harvest. They’ve been farming the area for 70 plus years. Biggest canola yield they’ve ever had. Just over 79 bu/acre. North of EdmontonBeen a few years since seen 50 bu canola in our country

So me not being a farmer, what could you grow on 130 arable acres to pay off the 1.5 mill. and how long would it take?$10,000 ish an acre is pretty standard now. I’m actually surprised around Olds it went for 1.5
Nothing, especially with the costs of equipment and inputs. Only guys buying are offsetting their cheaper land bought years agoSo me not being a farmer, what could you grow on 130 arable acres to pay off the 1.5 mill. and how long would it take?
According to my calculator its about 47 years to pay off one quarter section at todays values. So me not being a farmer, what could you grow on 130 arable acres to pay off the 1.5 mill. and how long would it take?
It’s absolutely crazy…According to my calculator its about 47 years to pay off one quarter section at todays values.
Same as the Old World (Europe). You inherit a debt and hope you can keep paying it off. It’s absolutely crazy…
How does anyone afford to buy new land..??
That's disgusting.According to my calculator its about 47 years to pay off one quarter section at todays values.
U need to have alot of other land paid for in order to make that scenario work, and float that payment across many acres, depedning on the yeilds but that wont be making tbem money for 15 years minSo me not being a farmer, what could you grow on 130 arable acres to pay off the 1.5 mill. and how long would it take?
Exactly this. You basically have to jeopardize your entire operation to expand by 5% in this area. No thanks, I'll stay small.U need to have alot of other land paid for in order to make that scenario work, and float that payment across many acres, depedning on the yeilds but that wont be making tbem money for 15 years min
