Got a few in my sample as well today. Not as bad. Going in air bin and keep it cool at night. Peas running 20. Be my best crop this year easily

Honestly pretty surprised at the yield as well. Mine were about the same and looked like this 45 days after being seeded.

Looking for opinions from the faithful lol. So looking like a lot of 10 bu wheat, peas and lentil crops in this area. My nephew custom farms my land for me and thinks we should preburn every acre because of multiple stages of crop in the cereals and canola. Seeing some kochia start to poke through the top on some of the wheat fields because there was no competition for real estate from the wheat. Does a guy plow more money into the crop when there is nothing there? I talked to a few buddies and they do t know what to do either. 🤷

You kind of have to. I swathed my dryland corners (on irrigation) barley a couple days ago because the barley is finished and the kochia still wants to keep going. How bad is the kochia?

It’s anywheres from 6 inches to 2 ft Johnny. We don’t think we can make a swath you can pick up because the crop is so poor so spraying or not spraying are the only 2 options. Sawfly is bad as well. Checked 10 wheat stems next to the yard and 8 were full of sawdust. If this was football the ref would yell 15 yards for piling on to Mother Nature lol.

Have you ever had 5-10 bu crops though? Lots of guys around the county I’m in let the hoppers go. It wasn’t worth spending the money on spray. When you have a big crop a person never questions spending more money on it.

I would desiccate,, otherwise all the weeds will go to seed and you will loose more to sawfly , but mainly weed control and hope for a better next year...

Honestly not since 2002,! Yoyr really not spending the money on this years crop, other than trying to kill down the multiple stages! In my mind it's more any issue of keeping things clean for next season!

I hear ya. Sucks spending more money on a shitty crop. 5 of the last 6 have been pretty damn dry for us.
