We've never grown peas before. I'd hate to have 120 acres of peas on a wet year. That's my only concern otherwise I say why not

But yea no, come harvest they don't fast good... At all. That is if you can even bite in to it haha. Even soft they fast horrid lol

That little shower tripled my rain for the month; just over three inches (75 mm).

Careful what you ask for....

I would welcome another 3 inches right now. Would make a phenomenal crop in this neighborhood. Its getting serious fast. Most places the crop has already had the course. Heard of people cutting silage southwest of here already bout 100 miles. People in ohio are plowing theirs under already and looking forward to next year. In Illinois they have corn that is tall and green and tasseled but NO ear. Too hot during pollination the plant didnt push any silks. They claim there is already 2000 counties in 13 states declared disaster counties. To give you and idea how big of an area that is..........Iowa has 99 counties so 13 states the size of Iowa only gives you 1300 counties approximately. Also heard today the ENTIRE STATE of iowa is in a burning ban.

Knock on wood though right now WE (our operation) have a good crop coming if we could just catch a couple more nice rains. Kinda consider us the garden spot of the midwest.

Holy crap Zeebs, my fingers are crossed for you. Until last Saturday I was looking at my crop insurance policy.

To your neighbors with no rain, my prayers go out them. I feel their pain, we have had years where we never puled out the combine or had little rain.

Very hard on the farm and family.

All I can say is god's speed to what we here call: "Next year country"

Not sure if this is related but here in the Muskoka region of Ontario, grass that was green months ago is now a burned up wasteland. I don't think I've ever seen that happen at home.

Here's some pictures from the plot tour yesterday. I was in the small group. Was about 50 farmers that showed up.

what exactly is a plot tour?

It's seed plots that seed/chemical companies put up. Basically to show farmers the different varieties that they have created, and display them next to the competition's seed.
