I dont mind cattle, my grandpa had a big feedlot for 45 years and I enjoyed helping when I did but he got out of the business about 4 or 5 years ago before the cattle business got tough. He offered it to my dad and I but his equipment was shot and outdated and required alot of repairs and money to get it caught up with the times. Plus we seen the grain side of our operation with a brighter future so we passed on the feedlot.

After all I'd much rather have cattle any day than hogs!!!

I do not like hogs cause of there smell. Cattle is definitely more my taste. My pap has been in the dairy business all his life. He is not going to give it up either. I believe that is why I have my cattle. My dad let his cattle go after FFA. I still keep mine up. I am not into the tractors or crop end much. So that is something I can take or leave. You can make more money with the grain side then the cattle side. If your an animal person then you don't mind cattle, if your not an animal person then you can leave it. I like my cattle to much to give them up.

I'm glad people like raising cows, cause I enjoy eating them! :d
We had cows for years and sold them a couple years ago. Lots of time for sledding in the winter now!

x2! We had about 50 head of cattle, and 300 head of hogs...those friggin things NEVER stayed in their pens, we were forever chasing them and putting them back in their pens...we had chicken wire buried about a foot down into the ground, but they would always find a way out....stoopit hogs. Good thing they taste so good! :)
We never really had any problems with our cattle, except when my uncle decided to test out his new squeeze chute out on our bull, we tried to tell him not to put him in there, but would he listen to my old man? NNnnnooooOooo! 'ol pop (our bull) tore it right the F up...Friggin hilarious. :)

I hate cows, mostly cuz they are stupid, we got about 250 head right now, that's about 250 to many... But on the bright side they do bring in a good source of income, but it makes you wonder if it's really worth it

We had canola like that a couple years ago. All I can say is have fun with the swathing! Haha. We got over 100 bu/acre though so it paid off in the end I guess.

We custom swath so we see lots of interesting canola crops.

Sounds like your gonna have tax issues if you get 100 bu/ac!

Yes...100bu/acre. An average canola crop for us would be around 80-85bu/acre. That year everything lined up just right - mainly the weather all summer was perfect. We're pretty small farmers and don't have much land - we get as much from it as possible!
