It’s a great idea. More quad, sxs and Harley riding days.

There are work places in Canada that have regulated work breaks that are the same for all workers whether you smoke or don't smoke. In other words, workers may only get two 15 minute breaks/shift along with a specified length of time for lunch. That's it; no more but it can be less.

I think it is a great idea. We only have one guy that does it now but had two others that did it all the time. They would have about a good hour everyday just sitting outside smoking while I worked. Pisses me off. There are already laws about smoking in the workplace but that doesn't seem to matter.

Just finished reading this article on line. Great idea but would like to see how it unfolds. I'm a past smoker (25 yrs ago) and realize the problems to come. I'm also on board for this, my smoking employees don't eat up any time at work because they can or do smoke in the equipment and pick ups but it makes a smelly mess and I the non smoker gag when I need to fill in or run my equipment when it smells like a filthy wet campfire pit. Totally gross habit and those of us that don't sure see the upside to not smoking.

What kind of company allows people to take paid smoke breaks? Everyone receives the same, 2 x 15mins for every 8 hours worked.

Happens all the time. They aren't allowing it. The smokers just take off and it isn't enforced by whoever is running the show.

That is usually the smokers too. Have to go for coffee in between the smoke breaks. Then have a proper coffee break after that. Maybe 1/2 hour in the ****ty too.

When I moved into the office I noticed that the breaks were much less regulated than working in the field where you would take 2 15 minute coffee breaks and 30 minute lunch. Lots of smokers at our office out for at least 5-10 minutes every hour of the day plus 30-60 minute lunch breaks. Pisses a guy off when you don’t smoke and continue working while they take an easy 1-2 hours per day worth of smoke breaks.

Not into telling anyone they can’t smoke but incentives for not doing so seems like a great motivation to quit.

If the health benefits or the thousands of dollars they spend on smoking a year won't motivate them to quit do you really think a few extra days off will?

For some people it might but not for all.
