Our SAR team just set up location sharing radios. Tracks position with simplex even if you are voice communicating through a repeater channel. Shows directly on Garmin Basecamp. We're using Icom units, pretty cool.
No way, that is really cool.

That's what we use, Icom unit's. Very high quality radio with outstanding performance. More on a professional level.
Does the location sharing work with all radio's with the base camp Garmin or is it programmed into the Icom units?

Yes I have question too.

Is it subscription based?

Does this zaztone rig look similar to the icon one?

Is the Icom a 10w?

Another question is do you get the Icom or try the Zaztone?

Cause the Zaztone is a 10w.......

But is the location features as awesome.

If this zaztone works the way I think it does, without subscriptions, people can ditch there spots and be hundreds of dollars ahead.

So hopefully that SOS button is included in the lockout scheme.

I do like that it has an SOS button.
Bye, bye spot.

I am thinking I ordered the wrong Zastones. All my software will work with Oziexplorer.

I don't deal with anything radio related for the team besides using them so I will do my best to answer and have to get some answers for what I don't know.

I don't believe it is subscription based, just communicates directly with the portable unit in our command centre.

Looks nothing like the zastone radio, just looks like a standard Icom

Not sure on wattage, can check.

I can get the model number but don't know off hand.

Who does the SOS button go to though? An email address you setup or an emergency call centre like SPOT or InReach?

I know our radio guy was trying to use ozitracker initially but having issues, not sure if that's what was used or if he found another solution, I can find out.

I can just see dragging in a command center, my as well take a few months of schooling before you try and program that digital nightmare up. Thanks for that info though. We maybe onto a real easy solution thanks to your sidetracking info.

The only unit supported is the ICOM IC-F3161DT/DS And just the mic for that is 300 dollars.
