Not sure how what I said could be misleading. You said pretty much the exact same thing as I did.

Concerning the channel 22 1/2 watt info...all of my information came from the BCA website...I believe it might have to do with frequencies used close to the USA border.

From BCA website. not sure how you read ch22 as 1/2 watt
On which frequencies do BC Link two-way radios work?

BC Link radio channels 1 through 7 are combined GMRS/FRS channels. Channels 8 through 14 are FRS channels. Channels 15 through 22 are GMRS channels. The FRS channels (8-14) transmit at 0.5 W, while all other channels transmit at 1 W (BC Links) and 2 W (BC Link 2.0) . While battery life is longer when using channels 8-14, the range of transmission is shorter.

I have a piece of paper right in front of me that was printed from the BCA website. It's called the BCA Link Frequency Chart: North America. Shows Channel 22 as being .5 watt.

That's what I was going from. Must of been a typo on the web site...I printed this a few years ago when I bought the BCA Link.

Shoulder shrug.

Here is some info on the new FRS/GMRS channel assignment/wattage

Honestly if your gonna depend on a FRS/GMRS radio for your survival your gonna die.

Get an a VHF system with at least 5w+

Could we not use the the national atv coordination frequency?

As per the band plan.

144.340 MHz

https://wp.rac.ca/144-mhz-2m-page/

IMO every cabin should have a 15-50w radio with a base station anttenna on this channel.

So has there been a decision made on what frequency everyone is going to use for emergencies?

Good idea!

For those that have dual band radios, FRS 16 is Frequency 462.575. Correct?

For emergency contact info for my Spot Messenger, I include the radio channel our group uses.

If you use CHIRP or a similar software you can set your radio so that it is not "field" programable. This might keep the govt happy?????.

Doubt it. The regulation is pretty specific about "user programmable" last time I checked. Can't find it now of course.

Bringing back an old thread. So I never got anywhere with the fed or government, but there are some BC interior SAR groups recommending using Ladd3 in an emergency. May as well go with the flow and also start recommending that. For those that have bought a radio from me Ladd3 is channel 112 and those that haven't it is 154.325. If you enter that on Channel A to monitor and use your groups channel on Channel B you can then monitor Ladd3
