I'm pretty new to EFILive and just did my first modification to give my LMM the "LB7 exhaust rumble" at idle  :) Anyone else been playing around with this software?

Ha small world! Mitch also tuned my truck and sold me the software.

I was a little intimidated at first but am finding the software pretty easy to learn and well documented. The data logging and diagnostic functions are awesome.

So far the only small mod I've done to Mitch's mild base tune is tweak the target vane position tables to get rid of the hiss at idle and give a nice deep exhaust note.

Next step is to modify and blend the turbo braking target vane position to hopefully allow some modulation of the turbo braking function instead of coming full on.

^ I see from the exhaust thread you're pushing considerable HP - have you been going back and forth with Nick sending log files and getting tweaked tune files, or did he send you a tune that worked out of the box for your mods? Also with nearly 500whp and 950 ftlbs on a stock tranny you must be driving carefully and pedalling any 4-5 WOT shifts!? That's way beyond what a stock Allison should be able to handle.

nick sent me the stock turbo stock trans tunes I told him the mods I had done to the truck and he put it into play my race tune is roughly 130 extra rwhp I run my race tune hard all day long as I love to play around. my tranny holds it in with no slipping issues or anything cause with efi you can do trans tunning to make it work properly with the stock allison. there is a guy in cranbrook building 175 hp tunes for stock trans trucks my buddy has one he dynoed 511 and 975 and he runs that tune hard just like myself. I have been worried about my trans with other tunes but with efi I feel confident I watched a dmax in the states run efi tunning from idaho rob with industrial injection twins for over a year and half with no issue he was running quarters in 12.9 -13.2 he built his trans cause he works at a diesel store and is now running quarters in 12.0-12.3's consistently. i feel if you know the proper way to tune with efi you can safely push a stock allision to 500 rwhp with no issues aat all I just highly recommend an airdog or fass fuel system when running a big efi tune. and no pedalling at all when i drive it's wide open to hear that 5'' straight pipe sing lol

You are lucky to be running a tune that big without limping your trans yet. Some trucks take a beating better than others, and different driving habits play a role, but it's irresponsible of you to tell someone they can safely run 500 rwhp tune. That's a full 200 hp over stock.

The general consensus out there is that 80 - 100 rwhp over stock is safe.

there is literally about 100 trucks in cranbrook with efi tunning over or close to the 500 rwhp mark with more km's on it then mine I have 78,000 on mine and chipped since 1000 km's and it has never had a slipped trans none of us have the trick is having the efi live tuned correctly for the trans. I got mine from duramaxtuner.com wich is nick he tunes most of the twin turbo and big single turbo dmaxes he used his standard tunning for stock turbo stock trans so i know it is safe. Efi is the only tuner you can run this high of hp without limping trans because it is custom built it's not like the generic tuners like ppe or edge that you set at 80-100 hp and it slips your trans. I know this because I have had 3 dmaxes with basiclly every chip!!! the only other chip other than efi i was able to run at 120 hp over stock without limping was the diablosport predator. and no it is not irresponsible of me to say this when i know that it doesnt limp your tranny! 200 over stock yes but also look at the 6.4 powerstroke who can make 700 rwhp on there stock trans and still hold up I also know of a 5.9 cummins that was running just over 600 on a stock trans for nearly 4 years with no issues. If the efi is tuned correctly you will be ok and I dont drive this truck lightly I take it to the track every friday and do 20 psi 4x4 launches with it at full power then drive it home from spokane or calgary on full power then run it on the streets at full power and it is still working just fine with no issues and that is the same story with the majority of the other dmaxes that run around with this power in cranbrook and area.

I use a guy named Bob Olson out of Wisconsin. Been running 10's for 3 years now. Bob knows his stuff. I used nick for awhile, and he's okay up to around the 5-600 hp range.

Ya nick is more conservative on his tunning. once i get the twins and tranny done I will probably switch to either idaho rob or mike meyers for my new tunes I like nick's tunes cause they are safe tunes but with twins and a tranny I'm not looking for safe i'm looking for that 650-700 rwhp range. what store does bob olson work out of? I found the most damaging on my truck was running the first 5000 km's without the lift pump I put the airdog 2 150/150 pump in and it runs flawlessly

Mitch cooper tuned my LMM with EFI live. We made a custom smoke tune but I mostly drive it around on performance. I have a 7-9" cognito lift running 37's and my truck runs like a dream. I would highly recommend him and the EFI live tune.

2009 LMM EFI Live with many go fast parts tunes from Idaho Rob and love it. The tranny thing hit or miss I say best bet build it. Looking for that kind of power airdog or she'll fall flat on big tunes.
