Not a pedal bike friendly riding area but it definitely hits the catagory of epic destinations in the hart of Philadelphia... hard too believe I've missed out on this area when touring parts of our America's...

Definitely worthy of my returns...

Wissahickon Valley

Enjoy all...

nice place there Lem!

now you are going to have to speak Wissahickon in order to speak to the natives ! ha. that whole area is like that , as well as most of Ontario(which is usually a bit rougher) should be a nice place to visit!

Well i can definitely say that fat tire bikes have a clear advantage over the studded standard tire bikes when encounter-ing the nasties...

Hard too believe how easy they climb over soft and frozen rut sections or hitting curbs at what ever angles...

There's no way I can return too standard bike tires for winter riding,,, a person would have too find out for them selves riding a few different tire combinations vs studded fats,,, a few hundred yards or at the end of a day a person will know what works for thier riding wants and needs...

If a person is only thinking about committing back and forth on graded bike paths or shorter day rides ,,, standard studded tires might work great ,,, but if a person encounters mile after mile of un-even terrain it might add skills needed too remain up right...
I found this out last night after cranking my 29'er on a off grid trails as well as plowed path-ways...

This same terrain on a fat tire dosen't require 1/2 or 3/4's of the energy and balancing skilks needed to pilot down the trails...

Don't get me right or wrong,,, studded standard size tires shine in alot of areas depending on trail conditions,,, ice/ snow,,, ruts and sharp edges,,, where they don't shine is when the conditions are not favorable...

A person could crash on either style of tires wide or narrow,,, it seems that these low pressure Studded fat tires offer a clear advantage when it comes too traction ...

If a person is Concider-ing logging on the miles in the winter months on all kinds of precarious Terrain the studded fat tires seem too fit the bill...

Long and wide sections of icey shoots ,,, uneven surfaces,,, frozen ruts,,, logs and stick crossing are a breeze on the fats...

Almost twice the traction in my books,,, of course each rider that's Concider-ing all season riding will have too decide what works for them...

A person can p.m me if their interests in trying a few different narrow and wide tire combinations next winter in Edmonton,,, Calgary or or our central area ...

They would know with in a few 100 yards the difference between good traction and Awesome traction...

Awesome traction is waaaaay safer and much more fun especially if the end goals are too prevent a miss-hap...

Crashing on the hard frozen ground is not fun...

Weekend ride planning is underway
