Anyone have some midweek updates on conditions for the area? See rain in the forecast, any fresh at higher elevation? Group planning on coming from the east Kootenays for the weekend.

I agree. Nice to know your truck will have windows in it when you come down.
In the Sicamous RCMP defense they stopped me riding from house to riding area and gave a warning. They could have ticketed if they were hassling sledders.

Guaranteed way to reduce riders to your club... have the RCMP camped out in the staging area.
Get a ticket - people will ride somewhere else

Is this your strategy for keeping the snow all to yourself?

If people are so worried about getting a ticket for something, the club and its members likely do not need those type of people using their facilities.

Seriously what are people worried about? Boozing it up and riding? Sure don't need them on the trails up and down let alone riding around in hazardous terrain. Maybe riding on stolen property? Or thieving items from people's vehicles and trailers? What about vandalizing property like club booths and groomers. Yeah those people are awesome.

You are kidding right? I look at it the other way. If there is lots of stealing going on in a particular staging area, I will go elsewhere.

Who mentioned they should camp out? All that was presented was the RCMP poking around and like takethebounce says, "the club and it's members likely do not need those type of people using their facilities."

I am worried about getting trumped up tickets by power drunk cops on my days off when I am spending my hard earned dollars in Sicamous trying to enjoy myself. I am sure some where in some law book we are all breaking some obscure law. Don't want it!
What are you an ex cop?

Doesn't bother me if they are around. Don't really want those that have something to hide around any way and I am OK with reduced riders here.
NO I am not an ex cop.

You sicamous folk always find a way to make this a bs thread instead of sledding. How about we talk about how nice it is to have snow almost to the valley at all areas?

Yes I am an ex and its the sameo sameo story from those that don't want the police around, heard it a thousand times. As far as I'm concerned they don't police the parking lot areas enough, and many times they are to lenient, simply because they don't know the laws. The Kelowna Club just had their groomer torched a couple weeks ago, has totally destroyed their revenue for Spring sledding, 160K gone because some moron took it upon himself to have fun. The same people that complain the loudest are the first to call the police when something affects them personally, otherwise the police should just piss off and eat donuts. Ya, that's intelligent, and if the police presence deters "those kind" of sledders from showing up in our areas, good, we don't need that kind of attitude in our parking lots or on our hills.

It was a visitor from fernie that mentioned it was nice to see the police presence at the hill. Maybe people are attracted to a place that does not enable thieves, drunks and other idiots on the mountain. No one says you cannot enjoy your self here and this thread usually provides excellent reports on conditions

I would not believe the groomer was torched by sledders! Likely anti sledders!

There is a lot of money sitting around in those parking lots all day unattended but my experiences have been most sledders are looking out for each other or minding their own business.

I like to drink a beer in the parking lot at the end of the day, and I don't need to hide it like a 16 year old drinking in a city park. It does nothing to endanger me or anybody else, And no I am not impaired after! I have no issues with police presence more with foolish laws that really do nothing to protect the public. It is perfectly legal to drink a beer in public places in many countries, and the streets are not filled with chaos! The law should be more about not being a D-bag!

How is the investigations going on the groomer case? Or were they just told to call insurance and it's forgotten about!

But really, Lots of complaining on these forums lately! Let's get back to condition reports and sweet pictures to look at when us city folks are stuck in the daily grind!

I wanted to say thanks to rightsideup for letting me tag along while my wife was sick a few weeks ago. It was my first time to Sicamous/Hunters and I had a blast. The snow was incredible and the best I've ever ridden. I even got to meet WB (He called himself Balls Out Bill btw)

I got some riding in at Hunters, Blue Lake, Owlhead with rightsideup and even made it to Eagles with some guys I met in the parking lot from Penticton. The only thing it didn't have was good restaurants!

I will be back again for sure!

I dont mind the presence of the authorities in the parking lots - have seen them in parking lot at owls a few times - never had a problem even when I drove down road abit ! Would have liked them up at Blue cabin other day when I had a unfriendly rider thinking that he owned the mountain and kept riding right by the cabin - reving and speeding past cabin - I was basically standing right in front of the cabin steps and this rider weaseled he way through the parked sleds and came right up to me and told me to get the F#2k out of the way ! Like theres a whole mountain out there - do u have to ride right in front of the cabin ! Wow! I was thinking at first I new the guy - but he sped of and the disappeared up over bunny hill - we left shortly after - a real hero !!
