I own an M7 and never rode a Doo, all that I can say is "who's next?" when it comes to hill climbing, I like it so much I just Snow checked M8! I've said this before and gotten the same responses back that the M7 are best suited for the smaller guys, can anyone confirm or deny the same for the M8.

What a civilized bunch I thought forsure this thread would reguire popcorn or at the very least a ref. Only thing I can input is the M1000 clutched right has in most cases thrown up the highest scratches .................... until like Shredder says a Pimped out Yammie shows up. The one thing I must repeat all M series need serious set up in the clutch. With a few mods and dialling in the 8 and 10 feel light and man they climb. Now I know there is some real Cat eaters on this site and very few Cat lovers so thats the end of my comments. Good luck with your choice, your DEALER is the most important option not the Make or MODEL.

Do you know what clutch mods and dialing in needs to be done exactly, or is it a rider preference thing. THX,

Gonna buy a Poo,aDoo or a yammie

But the harrasment better stop Sledbunny. Just so you know Catmando he started it. Tellin my mommy ..... And Linkz the clutching is personel to you and your ride areas. Your stagging performance will suffer a bit till you reach the dialed in elavation. Depending on your mods almost everyone has gone up in wieght on 4 corners on the clutch. We shoot to pull 7200 full pull ,a Box will adjust the timing hense taking you to the sqweak point the place where optimum power is made. I ride with a bunch of guys that have different settings and different mods, but performance wise they are very close. But if we play musical sleds almost all the sleds perform badly for their foriegn rider. We have programmed the ecu to run lean with a etg on the Y we slowly leaned it out till it sqweaked in the mid to high band. This was done on a salvaged engine . This is our starting point which thankfully only needed to be done once.It will take the 1200 et at the Y but the A/C etg will over ride your timing to compensate for heat and retard it .Most pimping shops can help you out Arctic Cat left a poop load of power on the table with this one and for a change it's not to expensive to get. By the way one guy runs twins and has tremendous track speed in the high rpm but it feels like it needs a push in the lows, its that bad.And he likes the higher rpm I dont because of the constant adjustments. Many guys do Fat guys dont .................................................And in closing when I first came on this site Catmando you were standing alone in the Arctic Cat war now all you have to say is "I dont think I like this conversation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL can I get you some popcorn and beer to up your viewing pleasure. Help

snotrocket, vou've got some very good points here.
First, sleds build power in different ways and at different points along the curve, depending on the mods.
Second, the rider "does" make a difference with both skill and that you tend to ride your own sled the best.
Third...well not your point, but it doesn't matter what you ride, just that you ride. I'm a Doo guy at heart but I have two Poo's right now...it's timing.
Catmandooooo has an awesome sense of humor and is a great guy (we had brews together last night at Average Joe's). That boy is Green (and Orange) thru and thru. Based on the survey from a while back, Cats need all the support they can get from the crowd.
Keep on rockn' boys.
Cheers

thanx for the info
Well I rented a 800r for two days at revy and I must say I kinda liked it but when it was time to buy I opted for the M8 . Like the EFI ( had an 01 ) and I like the handleing. As was mentioned if you have a good dealer in the area either one will give you good service. Enjoy!! Happy sledding!:)
