i'm suprised nobody has chimed in with the "its a hemi, fuel milage doesn't exist" comment yet, lol;)

but for what its worth the fuel milage got better with the addition of the current 5 speed transmission they use. i average 16-17L/100km (17mpg) empty and 22L/100km (13mpg) towing 5000+ lbs. keep in mind thats an average, if i'm nice it does increase a bit, especially without the trailer.

not sure what year they made the change, but i think in 2010 with the new body style, may have been before though.

07 dodge hemi 2500 quad cab 4x4 6 spd. Loaded I get approx 450 to 525 km on a tank of fuel (deck and 2 sleds or pulling 30 ft holiday trailer). Empty I have been getting 675 to 725 km on a tank. I drive mostly 100 to 110kph.

My new 2011 1500 Crew Cab 5.7l is getting 16.5l/100 mixed hwy/city but I have not even gone through my first tank of fuel yet. And I can tell you I have not been hard on the throttle, but not easy either. Its hard to have that hemi power and not use it. It puts a $hit eating grin on your face. I can say that when you are easy on the throttle the ECO mode comes on and shuts down half the cyls when doing a constant speed. It will then read around 11-13l/100 which I feel is pretty good for a truck, since at best with my 06 5.4l f150, with programer and intake it got 16-17l/100.

Just to put it out there and to make a long story short. The 5.4l should be avoided at all costs, there is still to this day the same design flaw with the cam phase sensors that go even with the current engines. Its not if, but when. After asking for the OASIS report on my used 06 this last week, I seen that this has been the 3rd time they have gone. Dealer says its a normal thing. Plus with 5600km warranty left, ford decided not to fix it. $3600 for a maybe it will last or $12k for a new engine. See ya ford, that was the last straw. Im trying dodge now!!.......... And don't even get me started on the spark plug issues that break off when they need to be changed

just traded a 2008 f350 6.4 diesel on a 2012 dodge 5.7 2500 no more diesel shortages or dealer saying no warranty dirty fuel or the thoughts of 20,000 diesel engine replacement and so far the lie o meter on both trucks says the hemi is 2L per 100km lower and the hemi will spank the 6.4 unloaded only 750 km on new dodge so not broken in yet either
