I think a great day is 3 feet. An epic day is shoulder deep........So it depends how tall you are.:d

for some peopel, bogger cough cough, that is the same thing;) lol
epic for us flatlanders is as the pics show, however that was the first and last time i have rode in that good of snow, so i do not know anything better.

So I guess that answers the question posed in this thread...no defining of terms required. It's sorta like..."She's hot".

Just looking for clarification............ Keep seeing threads with these comments on "epic" snow amounts and I get all excited and start thinking I might change my riding destination for the coming weekend..... then they post pics with 8" of new snow.......

I couldn't agree with you more. I hear the same thing all the time and get out there only find it isn't quite all that.... and ya sledders can't seem to estimate how much snow has fallen, seems whatever you hear for how much was out there you can divide in half and still be on the generous side.
The other thing that gets me is the " fresh powder" comments, it hasn't snowed in a week but somehow they rode fresh powder, maybe untracked powder, but not fresh.

Fresh powder is what fell overnight,

Untracked powder is more than a day old and well, I think, self explanatory,

In my books it takes 3+ feet of fresh or untracked powder on a blue sky day with the temps around -5 for me to throw around the word epic, and even then it's iffy...

A chute would be something that you made you sh!t when you attempted it because once in a chute you ain't turnin' out without it being expensive.

And ya maybe I'm spoiled, but that's just the way it is........

I agree with your definition, but I do think that at the end of your quote "and ya maybe I'm spoiled, but that's just the way it is..... FOR ME " should have been added... jmo

"EPIC" is in the eye of the beholder. Let's not make this an "Elitists" only forum by having to meet qualifications to post that we've had a great day of sledding. I've had some excellent days of of sledding this year but I guess in some opinions I have yet to have an "EPIC" day. A bright sunny day away from work, with enough snow to ride and no wrecks...in my book, that can be considered "EPIC".

completely agree. everything depends on your experiences and what it is your really looking for. not every person riding a snowmobile wants 3' of snow. thats why trailsleds exist! lots of people have an epic day of hard pack trailriding with the sun shining and a weiner roast. doesnt need to be 300hp on 6' of fresh in the gnarliest chute on earth in -1 degree weather with the sun beaming all day. I've had epic days when I couldnt see 2' in front of me and it was cold and windy! but the company was good, the jokes were funny and the sled ran good. I wasnt at work.

Then I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you have had a grand total of 3 "epic" days of riding in your illustrious sledding career. Cause I have to be honest I never seem to have enough luck for those three variables to align, blue sky, deep snow, and good temps. I'm usually socked in, paved snow, and brutal temps, not all three on the same day but a combination of all variables. I agree with some of the guys on here epic is in the eye of the beholder, one of my best days of this year was right after we got all that snow in January(Edmonton and area) putting on 80 miles of ditch, field and lake riding just west of Stony Plain, not epic but pretty phuqqin close. Have had some really good days of riding in both Valemount and Blue River this year but by your definition have not had anything close to epic, apparently I am not one of the spoiled ones. To each there own.

I must need a better sled. I've ridden in 5' of fresh, it was fun until after the 20th stuck.
Any day out in Revy where there is 2 or more feet of fresh and it's clear enough I don't have to drag my foot to tell if I'm moving is epic enough for me.
