I'm headed up to Valemount tomorrow and was wondering if diesel is scarce between Edmonton and Vale? I keep hearing shortages from friends up north but here in Red Deer we have no shortage of diesel. Any help would be great.

Why the f*ck is there such a thing as a diesel shortage in Canada let alone in Alberta?! They axed the keystone pipeline because our oil is dirty. I'm glad they did. Sending our raw product to the states just to buy the refined product back is rediculous. If we had more refineries in Alberta instead of selling our jobs away we would probably have enough diesel.

My bulk fuel provider told me yesterday that 2 refineries are down right now and that between all the refineries they only store enough fuel for 20 days ahead in Canada. WOW!!

Time to open up some more tank farms, the idiots.

No issues with diesel in edmonton last weekend or up north in fort mac. But i did notice diesel jump from 1.22 to 1.28 . This pricing is gettin ridiculous! Id be more concerned with valemount not having any as its a smaller town than edson or hinton.

Maybe some relief in sight? Some of the diesel fuel shortages being reported across Alberta can be traced to a planned shutdown at one of two hydrogen production facilities in Edmonton owned by Air Products.Company spokesman Art George says repairs at the facility began in mid-October. He adds they plan to have it back up and running by November 19th.
"Within the facility itself there is a boiler that operates as part of the facility and that is what specifically needs to be repaired. The repair work is being taken on in that part of the facility itself and as soon as we have that repaired we believe we will be back on stream."
Hydrogen is required in the production of diesel fuel.
A number of refineries in the Edmonton area access hydrogen from Air Products.
George says their other production plant in Edmonton is operating normally.

Suncor hydrogen supplier back up and running. Cardlock and bulk plants building inventories in the coming days. In 4-5 days should be back to normal and totally open for business.

I filled up our 3 ton at work today in Cowtown. 500+ litres and no worries. Last weekend I had troubles finding 50L for my p/up.

Talking to other people, it definitely seems to be worse up north than say, south of Edmonton. Fuelling the population base?

Co-op in Regina is still down as far as I know, due to an explosion. Suncor had an issue with a third party hydrogen supplier (used in the cracking process) plus there are refineries that have not upgraded to produce ULSD yet due to cost/PITA, and the demand for gasoline is so much higher than diesel they can get by without.
