You said people drive at 1100rpms. People do not go out and say 'I'll drive this many rpms today'. Also we live in Canada not the US so I use our measurements. I bought gas at $1.41 per liter. And if you go back to my first post I said if gas didn't have all the taxes, gas would be about half what we are paying now. If EV had( and I'm sure they will in the future) taxes like ICE they wouldn't be $0.04/km to drive
So basically you called me a liar I called you stupid.

You said you get 42mpg and the EPA says 26mpg. I don’t think you’re a liar but there is a huge discrepancy between those two numbers. Now on a day with a tail wind and a downhill you may very well get that but that is not the average. I also really like corvettes, but when you talk about efficiency they are not even close.

The EPA is an average. The top of the line vette doesn't get 42 mpg. It get about 19 mph on the highway. Fun fact...the 2005 vette could not reach its top speed in 6 gear. That was because the 6 gear was too tall. It was meant for highway driving.

I think the real question is if the zombie apocalypse happens and you need to jump your car over a river dukes of hazzard style, which car is going to serve you best. No one ever thinks of that scenario

The EV will need a shorter run-up and resulting explosion and month long fire would kill more zombies, so win.

The cost to recharge an EV is also highly dependent on how it’s done. High speed supercharging in BC at the beginning of March is now up to $1.65 per minute so a full quick fill can be upwards of $50 if your personal time has any value. This is certainly just the beginning of cost increases and was a 70% jump to just a few months ago.

If you compare this to the above chart, the cost in this case is actually $5.00 per 25 miles and not $0.84 (Corvette is $6.57 per 25 miles, still refuels a lot quicker)
Hence why the Bull Horn blasts to the numb minded on the EV issue. None of these people can fathom simple economics let alone the current energy crisis we are currently seeing. They simply think they are getting a good deal while sacrificing freedom to travel and high electricity cost for image purposes lol. When in fact they are getting less travel because they cannot go as far and high recharge rates they cry about, let alone the current grids cannot handle such a demand let alone a 75-100 ah plug in every house. Then again Indoctrinated Socialists never could understand economics, they think the $$ comes from the fairies that fly over the gobbernment bldgs. #Let it Idle #Support Oil/Gas #Btw Gas is 1.65 gallon in Russia :)

Is it true you need a 75amp plug to charge an EV at home? No.
Is everyone that drives an EV a socialist? No.
If you charge an EV in Alberta a big portion of that electricity comes from natural gas generation. So are you not supporting Natural Gas by running an EV?

It’s made already pretty easily, and it’s readily available

Apparently not readily available enough. It was announced a couple days ago that Suncor was divesting their wind/solar parts of their business to concentrate on hydrogen development. There must be a coming market and there is not enough availability for Suncor to make this diversion in their business plan.
Follow the money and your post #27 is probably very true.

Just because you have an EV simply does not explain the dynamics of it all to the average consumer. Look it took you 3 days to go to edm and back when it took me 6.5 hrs in Peterbuilt. So then maybe you can explain to the folk what the average ah you need to properly charge your vehicle for the next working day and then my camping trip on the weekend. While your at it explain to the folk where all those toxic 1000lb batteries are gonna end up when they are cycled out. Also explain how the components within these batteries are mined using fossil fuel machines. Then to top it off explain to the folk who gets to pay for the infrastructure upgrade because yes every house will need a min 50-75 ah plug alongside there all ready 100ah house grid. The bull horn being blasted by the criminals on the whole climate crisis/EV bs is nothing more than BS. They just don't want you travelling very far and want you controlled in tight little cities with no travel or free will. Let that sink in for a bit then come back with your explaining. #Elon doesn't care if you buy his vehicle or not. Truth

$0.04/km and nearly zero maintenance.

I wonder what that big fawkoff battery pack will cost when it’s time.

Make sure to pro-rate your “nearly zero maintenance” with this expense. And don’t just say you’ll sell it before the battery needs replacing - some poor bastard is going to have to do it some day.

Any idea what new battery costs, including environmental disposal fee of the old one?

Do some quick digging on the efficiency numbers of hydrogen fuel cells and electrolysis to make hydrogen with electricity. Compare that to the round trip efficiency of lithium batteries. You'll see why even Toyota has scrapped hydrogen plans and is going hybrid and EV with lithium batteries.

So you drive a hydrogen powered car?

Nope, But I know big companies, along with automotive heavy trucks like freightliner and kenworth etc, are dumping a pile of money into the technology.

Maybe they don’t want it to work.

There are other ways of making hydrogen, not just with electric, it’s a byproduct of some processes as well.

So if he needs a new pack at 300k who cares? Very few ICE cars make it that far without significant mechanical replacement either.

There's going to be some big business in rebuilding EV batteries, replace the bad cells and send it back out on the road, market it at 80% of the capacity of factory new and sell them for 40% the cost.

The cost to replace a battery pack would at the moment not be economical, I read its 20k to replace a battery pack on a EV when the vehicle is properly worth that much when it’s time for a battery replacement. IMO EV’s at the moment are a lot like windmills, they get buried when their life span is complete.
