cr racing tunnel, how many pounds do I save on a nitro?

Im looking for a light weight nitro. Cr racing tunnel weight is my only unanswered question ...
Other than if you can find me a big hp light turbo yam ...

Yes I'm done with skidoo ...

Tunnel Weight saving of a apex or rx1 is greatly appreciated ...

u can save lots of pounds skid tunnel seat I bet 50lbs it still rides like **** . haha whales I call them if u like babysitting them loving and holding them there great but there so needy . they go up big hills easy but that's it . im done with them getting a ski-boom . good luck

I don't know how much weight there is to save in a tunnel, they are pieces of aluminum about the same size, and my mountain mod seat is no lighter than the stock one. If you haven't bought a sled already consider how hard the changeover is. I have been told the engine has to come out to change a tunnel, along with pretty much everything else. Look for a sled already done. Same goes for the skid, front end, and shocks, but the cost is the factor here.

The two strokes handle nice but until they get their power straight I will stay on my Yammy. By the way, it is not that heavy anyway.

My buddies who i live and snowboard with have big hp nitro so ive riden them quite a bit and know wot really happens in the work shop.
Im looking to buy 1 already set up and ready to go under 9g prefer under 8g and there are more than a few to choose from.
Weight and size are not an issue to me as i have been ridinga rt1000 for 4 seasons anyway.
Wot i need is big hp to break trail and still pull hard at 2600m

To change the tunnel the engine can stay in the front bullhead. I've changed mine twice. Yes they are heavy machines. There are plenty on the market for low prices and several turbos that are done up with all the goodies.

I cant tell you from experience, the tunnel does save a bit weight but the drop brackets was the real savings. If i am not mistaking it was around 12 lbs when i installed a Diamond-s Tie tunnel.

unless they have changed the nytro in the last 4 years the motor didn't have to come out to change it.

I spent a ton of money to get my Nytro as light as possible. the only light weight mod i didn't do was the battery for the 4 lbs saving i did not feel it was worth the risk of not having the power to start it.
at that time full of fuel i had it down to 541 lbs with around 400 HP at 30 lbs boost.

Best of luck with your build. one peace of advice don't build it lol. Buy one with most of the mods you want to do for 1/2 to 1/3 the price and spend a bit of the savings making the mods you want.

The Nytro weight has been beat to death already. My point is that they are not a RX1(ton).

Ron, I have spoke to counter guys at dealerships about tunnel changes, not to the guys who have done them. How hard is the job? What has to be removed?

Seat, Exhaust, Rear suspension, Plastic, fuel tank, Coolant lines, about 10-12 rivets and i believe 6 bolts. done, you can have it off the sled in about 2-3 hrs

Ive done a cr tunnel a couple times on my nytro its not to bad work/hour wise but there isnt much for weight savings if any at all

The CR tunnel is easy to put on. Some of the rivet and bolt holes are pre-drilled, so the alignment and connection to bulk head are easy. The hardest part was getting the running board support brackets at the front of the tunnel to connect properly. I had to weld a little tab on the bracket to make it work. You will also have to think about how you will support the exhaust header. I couple of little spacers between the header bracket and the tunnel worked for me. Routing of the coolant lines to the running boards also took some thought.

I don't think you will save any weight with the tunnel swap. The CR tunnel also has the rear exchanger that will be full of fluid. A powder coated tunnel may help less snow stick to it, but I am not sure if that is significant either. If you want to save weight and keep the stock tunnel, then just look at replacing the rear suspension drop brackets. Timbersled makes a nice set.

Weight savings are tough, its more in a setup than components. shorter tracks and suspensions will be lighter than longer ones for example. I had a turbo pro that was 40lbs lighter than my nypex when they where setup the same suspension wise.
