I'd like to say this is a good thing, but I don't think it is. Im a conservative but Jason Kenney and some of his clan is a little to right wing for me. If they are successful I could see them cutting more then Ralph did and setting this province back more then Ralph did.

Then pack your bags and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out of the province.

Whats your definition of set back? What would you call today's state of affairs?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Maybe you could actually post something that adds value to this thread.

Cutting spending to healthcare and education. Ralph cut 1/3 of the public sector and it took years to get back. Some say the province is still playing catch up trying to improve the infrastructure that wasn't maintained during his time in office.
I agree that todays affairs, both provincially and federally are undesirable. I just don't think a swing from far left to far right is the answer.

The next government is going to have to make some unpopular cuts. This current government has spent us into a big financial hole. Cuts have to happen because the money has to come from somewhere.

as soon the younger crowd realizes that the taxes will have to be increased to pay for the debt or have cuts and government layoffs .. i like Jason's approach

Kenney isn't far right IMO, about middle of the road as it goes. As far as public sector employees they've swelled almost 13% since the NDP came in with all their good pensions and benefits, all paid by tax dollars. Cut's need happen or taxes need to increase, are you for more tax or cutting spending?

There is serious fat trimming in government that needs to be done.
Private sector hammered by continued bad policy by NDP and government employees prosper more than ever.
Sounds great if you a government employee. Just Nothead insuring a voter base.

It depends on whats on the chopping board. If politicians are willing to take a pay cut than yes.
Cutting health care spending, IMO no.

Have people forgot about prentice's progressive health care premium plan? The more yah make the more yah pay, same as his progressive income tax.

Something needs to change with healthcare spending, it's not sustainable. Healthcare costs are growing at a greater rate than money coming in. We are going to be Greece north soon. No idea what the answer is but as long as healthcare is a sacred cow that politicians are afraid to mess with, nothing will change until is consumes all our GDP.

Yes but where is the money going is the question. You mention the sacred cow which is a true statement, but id rather see a tooth extraction covered under heath care than a sex change.

The new voters are voting for who ever OFFERS them the most. They think this is smart voting and only stupid people vote for cut backs, this is not going change until the country debt load causes a financial collapse. The snowflakes will really be crying when they can't have their gluten free...or any food for that matter.

No one says they spend the money wisely, lot's of overhead as well as paying for Shiite like you mentioned. CEO of AHS can make a cool $780K salary.

I agree that cuts are going to have to be made. Hopefully they cut the fat at the top and not the lower level government service employees. The way the economy has gone I think it was a good reset for the big money makers in oil and gas, cut some of the higher ups making way above their pay grade. Public sector needs the same.

Hiring lots of government, raising minimum wages and giving out lots of welfare does not work. What does work is clearing the red tape for companies to flourish. They pay way better wages, which pays way more taxes, which allows better health care, schooling and social programs..... NDP payday loan attitude, does not work, paying it back .. is painful.

I am thinking the next election is not going to be a cake walk for UCP & Kenney. I think the UCP will win but I am thinking it will be a minority; I hope I am wrong.

Here is some healthcare spending. You have a stretcher in the back of 350 AHS ambulances. Not sure of exact weight but medics say that they are to heavy to lift into the ambulance so AHS is putting new hydraulic stretcher into the ambulance for about 20,000,000.00 . so about 45000 per ambulance and spares. Now when they get to your house they still have to lift this stretcher up the stairs or over the curb which now weighs 40lbs more than they old on. Go figure. Should put in some fitness training.
