Cost for contractor to build a 24x24 detached garage

Just wondering what it costs to get a 24x24 detached garage built these days.
Including foundation, framing, soffits,vinyl siding,metal roof,16x7 garage door,man door and two windows. No electrical or insulation or drywall.
Land is cleared and fairly flat and easy to access.

Not sure these days but we built a 24X26 garage in 1997 at total was 10 grand. Including siding, furnace, electrical, all doors and windows, driveway done, These days bet it's 60 grand?

I can build one myself for about 15g. To pay someone else will be a lot more than that.

When we were looking to get the same one built in Calgary, bout 4 years ago. The average cost was $20,000.00 complete.

In 2020 my 28x28 with 11' walls package from Nelson was 22K including the 16x10 door... My friends and I did most of the work and I bet I'm into it 60k with 20K in concrete and 200amp electrical... it still needs insulation and sheeting.

Not really...... That was including concrete. For the extra 4 thou-ish...... I couldn't be bothered to do it myself. As I would do the interior myself

Thanks, im interested to see what price sledder get quoted.

And how bad they'd cheap out on matarials at that price point.

Im building something similar and know it will be done right if i do it. And wont be buying the cheapest chit i can find.


Probably just do it myself.

24x24 you can go slab on grade and won’t need a foundation. You should thicken the outside 2’ of your pad and extra row of rebar around the outside perimeter. If you go larger you would need a foundation probably for the proper permitting. Can’t help you out with pricing been awhile since we built something that small. But your local lumberyard can give you a price on a package pretty easy. Labour should be close to the lumber package for a budget.

Last quote I did labour was 55-60% of the quote.
The hardest part is getting good workers

Just built one at my lake lot.
24' x 20'
Same pad that Niner described above.
Used a local contractor's for the pad and framing, shingles and electrical.
Mainly had an electrician do it for the permit and the service from the pole.
I did the siding, soffit doors etc myself.
23,000 by the time I was done.
