Just wondering if anyone knows if highway 532 (heading west from chain lakes) is passable? I'm looking to get to highway 40 and head south from there on the long weekend coming up. Lots of reports of damage in the area, so I'm thinking it's probably wrecked, but can't find a shred of info online that tells me if it's closed or not.

not sure about 532, but the gap is open along the oldman. part of 940 going north to Dutch is washed out between the forestry cabins and Dutch but they have a detour setup.

There is a hundred yard section just below the lake that is not there any more and more dirt keeps coming down and take out more road. Ground is super saterated. Floods up there in 95 where way worse then. Gap road is open.

Do you mean just north of the lake? So that would mean 532 is closed?

And by gap road you mean the road that follows the Oldman? How far north can I get up the 940/40?

Yes 532 is closed. This is the bridge at johnson creek a mile or so west of willow creek. 532 is the hump road and 517 is the gap road and it is open. Forestry trunk road is open from cole man going north to about livingston falls and from there north the ugly wash outs start. There are crews working on it. This is about five miles south of livingston falls.

Below is a copy of the information I have placed under the Calgary Snowmobile Club for accessing Cataract Creek/Etherington:

It appears from the Alberta Parks website today, June 28th, that there is road closures and minor through major damage to the roads accessing the Cataract Creek Snowmobile Area Trails at "Etherington" and "Cataract Creek", therefore it will be awhile before the area may be accessed.

In short, Hwy 40 is closed from the north just past Hwy 68 (Sibbald Creek Road) to the Highwood House turnoff/Forestry Truck Road (Hwy 940) south into the drop-offs. As well, Hwy 541 from the east (Longview) is closed near to the Highwood House turnoff. From the south, Hwy 532 (Willow Creek Road/Windy Pass) is closed as well as (Hwy 940) Forestry Truck Road at Plateau Mountain/Burstall Pass, so accessing down into the Cataract Creek area is not possible.
