I am surprised the owner hasn't reclaimed it yet, if it was my sled I would have been back the next day to get it

Almost 40yrs of mountain experience, probably close to 100,000miles on ski's and track and i'm not sure but anywhere from 18-20 sleds later, rough guess. I have never left a sled in the mountains because of snow condition's...that's laughable. Broke down yes. But not because of too much snow but hey there is a first for everything. Go prepared and use your head, try it.
ya.. Time to step off of the soapbox Lund. They were inexperienced and did what they saw was best at the time. Let me guess, you had years of experience BEFORE you started snowmobiling? When you started sledding in the mountains, there was no such thing as 4 ft fluff miles past the entrance. Heck, most didn't make it to the entrance 40 years ago...
It's better than S&R looking for some people lost or dead on the hill.
Good to see it all turned out with a good ending, Some valuable lessons have been learned for these people... but not from ones hindsightful preaching.

They headed in the first day of the big storm when the snow was chest deep and had absolutely no bottom too it. they dug till they couldnt anymore and decided to double down as it was getting dark and they where the last guys up top on the hill . Before all you keyboard veterans go ****ing bashing on the guys when you yourself werent even there to see the conditions maybe take a min to evaluate different scenarios before trashing guys that obviously made the right choice to head down rather then continue on through the night. We went up the two days after and 100% could see why they left it as it still had very little base to stand on.
