Were the other guys Brett and Jeff??? If so Brett (dadeuce) is my nephew, and probably his helmet cam that was lost. He was going to get some vids yesterday. Dang!! Sounds like a blast......I'll have to give him a buzz.

No james and jonny and I was the one with the go pro. We were the only guys up there.

That slide on Mt. Bolton happened on Sunday when we were there. There was a group of 3 guys playing in the pass most of the day. When we came back over at 4:30 the slide was down. We caught up to the guys at one of the creek crossings and they said it came down while they were highmarking on it.:nono:

The guy was lucky and was able to ride out on the right of the photo. It could have been a lot worse, the debris pile was over 20' high in some places. I notice either of the two guys we caught up to carrying avy gear. I didn't want to know if they had beacons on.

Its good to see they were high marking when conditions were High, and a hill that is out of bounds for sledding.I personally find it hard to put a mark on one when its at considerable.Noticed some marks south of that mountain had sled tracks on it......

Yeah I saw their tracks in there too. Tons of land mines in the there and not very much snow. I don't think I would ever venture in there even if it was open.

Rode south of Cataract staging area today. Frigging government better use our license fees for sledding related stuff like grooming. Trails are pretty beat up. Some new snow coming down in the higher elevations. It was really windy and drifting especially on Skyline.

Windy? On the west side of the Elk River the alpine winds were like a hurricane and that's been for 3 days. Sounded like a low level jet was hovering above.

Slabs and cornices....be careful out there guys:beer::beer::beer:

I agree..its a bit hard to swallow when you live in the richest province in Canada...and your being told "sorry there wont be no grooming this year"

I wonder what would happen if they said that in Quebec and Ontario....

Any one know how the snow is at Catarract? worth the drive?

Im pretty sure if you look at some pictures and read some of the above posts you will answer your own Questions.

BTW THERE IS A SNOW FALL WARNING OF UP TO 50CM for tonight tomorrow. That should help answer it as well.

Cheers

Rode Cataract on Saturday and had a great day. Lots of snow and still found some untouched trails and got stuck a few times. More snow than there was 2 weeks ago. We headed down the trail to Fording Pass and decided to turn around and stay on the Alberta side. The trails closer to the staging areas are in bad shape and whooped up.
We left around 4:30 and 15 minutes into our drive home we were in a crazy snow storm. I had some trouble seeing the road and was going by the road markers and rumble strips. The snow was coming straight at us. The visibility was much better near Longview.

There were a few F&W trucks, an RCMP truck and an ambulance at the Etherington staging area when we loaded up. Apparently someone did some pretty bad damage to their knee out on Raspberry Ridge. Hope the rider is OK.

I was out on Saturday and came arcoss the injured fellow in the group. It was a dislocated knee, everyone seemed in good spirits.

The trails are extrememly rough in most places. My back is still in pain. If you are able to find some untouched cut lines and open medows the snowmobiling was more enjoyable. Without the grooming it is hard to say if I will ever return. Off trail was knee to waist deep and after this snow storm moves through I would imagine it to be better.
