Thanks for the comment BUT its a team effort Steve. We are a small group dedicated to keep the trails smooth. I`m focused on sled grooming and Daryll is our big groomer operator. I have 2 guys that help me. Mike and Dave. They make up my sled grooming team. Our grooming team and trail maintenance team are always looking for new members for year round help on the trails.

If if you ever need help glen I can give your team a hand for sure with the trail maintence. I work 3 weeks on and three weeks off on an offshore drill rig so I have plenty of time on my hands on days off. Would love to help out the club anyway I can to keep the trails enjoyable. Will be back in Calgary on Feb 16 if there's anything I can help with let me know anytime

Sorry, I can’t go Thursday with you. My wife and I just got home from being out there today. The fresh snow was epic today!

We were out there yesterday sled grooming. There is fresh snow. trails good shape. Etherington up over the ridge will be a little rough. Darryl taking the groomer out there this weekend to get the north trails groomed again. Lets hope it doesnt get to warm out there. Grooming works best when cooler. Enjoy your weekend riders. Please remember the trails are 2 way trails. Ride it like you would like a road. Stay on your side of the trail around corners and over hills.
Some riders were saying they were getting stuck in the meadow down south.

I think the wife and I will try Cataract Sat as well. will be our first time out, but lack of my regular riding buddy will limit the mountain exposure that i will take her into. Hopefully we will still be able to have some fun with long track 3" lugs.

One more thing, I looked up and it says that you just take the highway from Longview west, however google maps says that the highway is closed. am i missing something.?

Go west from Longview on HWY 40 until the road closure (gate) then turn left (south) on FSR 940. Travel down 940 and you can unload at either Etherington Creek Campground area (on the right side of 940) or carry on further down 940 until you get to Catarac Creek parking area (also on the right side of 940).

There are BIG Calgary Snowmobile Club signs at the trail head at both locations that have box's with the area trail maps that are free for the taking. I would advise taking one before you head out. Have fun and we may see you out there.

A big thanks to the Calgary Snowmobile club and the groomer out there. The Mrs. and I had a great time today and plan to back next weekend.

The roads out there are in good condition as well.

Big groomer was out this weekend making trails smooth for the future. Lots of snow. Was a shame to pack it but without grooming there would be 3 foot moguals and nobody would be happy. Thanks to D&D grooming team. lots of snow still needs to be packed down South trails. Better get out there.

Couple of trail pics from today. Darryl said it was a cold weekend out there. Makes good trails when cold. Grooming done by Calgary Snowmobile Club. Please help us keep this going.

Had a awesome day Saturday finding lots and lots of deep fresh snow.Probed 145 centimeters in the trees south of the Oyster/Pasque trail intersection. I just wish people would be more courteous when riding untracked trails. We followed what appears to be three sleds down part of Oyster trail going south and they just trashed the trail. Riding all over the trail and leaving huge snow piles from heavy throttles all over. Our group of four did our best to try and flatten it down but they sure made it difficult. looks like they went to go play in one of the forested area's so that's why we figure they were not regulars to the area or they would know better than to play there. More snow then I've seen down there in many years and it's only early February. Trail grooming is truly paying off so thank you to Glen and Darryl's team for all their efforts.

Finally made it out to Cat Creek to see the deep snow for myself. Took a friend who had never ridden before, it was a good place for him to work on some skills. Still some land mines in the fields close to the parking lot, but further back you were more likely to get stuck than anything else. Glad I brought a shovel and a tow bungie. Clear-ish sky but cold on Sunday - can’t complain when you’re waist deep digging out a sled!

Thinking of heading out for the first time this year with a bunch of friends that are new to the area. I saw someone say there are trail maps of the area at staging areas, are these maps updated or are they the same maps from years ago? If I remember correctly from last year some of the trails got rerouted because of logging right?

Trail maps are good, in the map boxes at the trailheads. Glen has done much work to write the names of trails on the orange diamond snowmobile trail markers.

Thx. I remember I few spots on trails where the logging road took out some trails and it screwed me up.
