In their time they were a force to be rekoned with. Not the easiest chasis to ride. Good power for a bike back then.

My first dirt bike was a 1979 175 Qualifier, that was oil injected. 2 friends had 1982 KDX 250's and the 175 would slay them every day of the week. Parts on the other hand were ridiculously priced. It was cheaper for me to take my brake shoes and get them resurfaced, then it was to buy factory ones.
2 other friends got the 250 Qualifier and the 400. The 400 was stupid fast.....

We are wondering if when BRP releases a purpose built 2 stroke snowbike if it will come with the name Can-Am?

I had the ‘78 Qualifier 250 growing up in my teens. My friends nicknamed it “old ugly”. The left side kickstart deterred them from wanting to ride it

left side kick start and the gear shift shaft ran inside of the hollow tapered kick start shaft. The kick start lever on my '78 175 Qualifier kept loosening off and striping the splines off the kick start shaft. I ended up collapsing the kick start shaft to the point that when I tried starting it with the kick start, it would kick it into second gear. Needless to say that after the kick start shaft was FUBAR she was a push start machine. God help you if you ever stalled it in a muskeg.

Old post. Here goes. Vintage MX rider (Grier last name (not 100% correct)), has a few old vintage Can- Ams (1974-1982). Races with Alberta vintage Mx club. Located Spruce Grove or Stoney Plain.
He also sell pistons, rings, numbers, plastic ,etc.
