Wondering if anybody uses extended run time fuel tank setups for honda gensets. I have a 3000 inverter. I see the lids on eBay. what did you use for a tank and how did you tie it in?

Why do you need extra gas tank? Mine runs 18 to 24hrs on light load running furnace and charging batteries,
A lot less running heavier load

I just figured out that mine is a different version than I originally thought it was. You are correct the 3000 estart has a large fuel tank, mine is about half that it is the light version of the 3000 no estart and half the fuel capacity. It's only good for like 8hrs

Nice setup Arff did you build it or buy it?

Bought it.

It runs toyhauler, fridge in the garage , coffee maker, ice maker and margarita machine. I run it 24/7 on eco mode.

Uses 6 liters of gas in 24 hours. I never shut it off it add gas every few days to larger tank.

Works fantastic on a 100 foot extension cord you don't even hear it.

How does it work? I'm guessing you don't add fuel to the old tank anymore on generator, or does it use both tanks still? Gotta do this!

Because the honda has a fuel pump it pulls fuel down a bit on main tank then draws from larger tank. So I only fill main tank at original set up.

Then add to auxiliary every few days.

Google it. Lots of really cheap ways to do it.

Only the 1000 and 2000 have a fuel pump the 3000 is gravity fed. The extended run system for the 3000 usually comes with an internal pump.

So I have been researching this. It looks like your statement is true Doorfx. The 1000 and 2000 have a pump which creates a vacuum in the fuel tank so you can mount the tank on the ground as the vacuum will lift the fuel. The 3000 does not have a pump so the fuel supply needs to be higher or slightly above the top of the generator. Start a syphon from tank to genset with primer bulb and you are set.

So far my parts list is

portable boat fuel tank
replacement cap for generator with tapped fitting for fuel hose
fuel line with a primer bulb

Let me know if I am missing anything...

It may or may not work that way. I have been checking into doing it with my Yamaha. Some guys say that they tried it with the jerry can higher and found it works until the gen tank is full then overflows.

done that before , or it come out of the carb vent if the tank is mounted too high (to much pressure ), think we bypassed the entire factory gas tank with a 25l gerry can, some fuel line, shut off valve , inline fuel filter.
