Hey Maxwell, Yes it's Fatdaddy, Awesome fireworks show at new years. I do need to know though if Karen approves of the new avatar. As for the 2012 cat mtn bar it is a bit of a chest grabber, not sure why they angled it. The Allan Cr moguls at xmas hooked me a few times LOL Cheers!!!

mine has come loose twice as well (like Johni_t). i think it is a flaw with the design as i wrenched it down pretty tight after the first time too. yes, the bars are tapered as well because when i slide it down it gets tight again. i'll be taking the advice of removing the spacer to see if it helps!

hmm...

I went out and looked at mine...there is no way the bolt in the strap is going to catch the cable if it moves and the cable is routed correctly through the bar pad.

Granted I have my bars rotated to an angle where my wrists are straight when riding. If the bars are rolled back the bolt for the strap is way under the cable and in no danger on catching the cable.

So I started my sled and pulled on the cable by hand. It idles up a little, pull harder, almost an 1" pull, revs up a little more. You would almost have to already be WFO to cause the sled to go out of control then for it to stick WFO and not be quick enough to either hit the kill switch or yank the tether if it wasn't hooked to you.

I wasn't there though. Could it happen, sure. Is it a PDI issue. No. Who would ever think the mountain strap would slide up the taper bar to cause the bolt to catch the cable and cause the engine to rev out of control and cause an injury or damage. Is it a good idea to go out and check yours. Yes

Should BRP step up and do something for this guy?...They have lawyers to determine that. I'd like to think yes, as there is potentially a hazard due to the construction and setup of their design. I am sure there will be a warranty bulletin come out shortly to say bring your sleds in for rerouting of cable, or replacement of throtle cable to a longer one, or mountain strap clamp/bolt replacement.

BRP needs to step up and issue a fix IMO. That being said , if the bars are tapered i would find some kinda clamp or spacer to stop the strap from sliding up on the bar and coming loose. Not sure what the handle bars look like but i assume this can be done??
Poor guy i can see this happening way to easy. Seen my buds 98 Summit stick wide open and even after he bailed and pulledt the tether it smashed into the house . Hate when manufacturers won,t stand up and fix problems. Best of luck to him, but yeah insurance would be a good idea.
