I hope what ever is released from Polaris is more reliable than what has been in the past.If you spend time on the rzr forums there just seems to be too many issues lately regarding transmissionson the 10 model year and now weaker axles and cv's on the 2011.I am not brand loyal and own 2 09 polaris RMKs but I also have a 09 Rhino and a 07 grizzly.Nether ATV has been back to the shop for any major issue[2 cv boots on the grizzly]Rhino has over 3k on it and the grizz is around 3700k.Along with the high price of my toys I want some reliability and polaris should up the warranty on the new SXS they are coming out with just like they had to with the optional 4 year warranty on the ProR MK

Canam gave a one year warranty ,opp. for four more years.

Well I have had no real problems with my 08 RZR. I think it all goes to how well you look after your units myself. I cut all maintanence intervals in half. 10 hr change in the front diff. and allways change the diff's after a good weekend of muddin and under water. But they all have problem spots....plus I love to "tinker" on mine all the time......keeps me out of the house LOL:d

I personally do not know why so many are boned up about the commander, sure it looks cool, but it's too big. I was disappointed when I saw the specs, I hope Polaris brings out a 850+ unit that will raise the stakes.

I am sure a lot of breakage in any atv is form doing stupid stuff.Cranking steering side too side in diff lock with the throttle pinned.Drowning them in mud. Hitting obstacles on the trail.I too think if you do regular maintainance and do not abuse them your not going too see near the problems.

Have any of you ridden the Commander? It sucks!!! I can ride my Ranger Crew through the woods faster than that pile. They allow no camber in the rear suspension so it doesn't corner at all. The only time that suspension works really well is if you are riding straight through washboard gravel, otherwise HORRIBLE!!! I almost fell for the hype and bought one but luckily I got to drive one first. DON'T FALL FOR THE HYPE!!! Almost as bad as a Rhino. And that stupid hokey dual level box...hahaha.

I am guessing that this new RZR is going to be awesome!!! They did the same countdown thing with the Rush and that ended up completely changing the game in the snowmobile world. Everyone thought that was just going to be bold new graphics and it ended up being the best handling snowmobile I have ever ridden. I am glad I saved the money that I almost wasted on the Commander. I can tell you that I have the $14,000 that I almost wasted sitting in my bank account waiting for 1.1.11!!! We have a 50 in. RZR and a RZR-S already. I can't wait to add to my collection!

Well I could get into the details about the differences between North American and Japanese/European manufacturing philosophies, but we'd be here all day. I will tell you this little story, you can make of it what you will. A friend of mine went into automotive engineering and he had the chance to talk with some engineers at Ford while undergoing his schooling. He owned a 92 F-150 with a 300 inline 6 and asked why they didnt make the gear on the camshaft end out of steel instead of the nylon plastic they were currently using, as this was basically the only weakpoint in an otherwise bulletproof engine. The straight-up answer he got from the engineers was "Well we cant make it too good or we wont sell any parts." He went to work for Toyota instead, he hasn't bought a domestic vehicle since and he tells everyone he knows not to either. Now this is a automotive story, but if you think Polaris, Arctic Cat, or BRP don't follow this same logic then you are kidding yourself. Need further proof? Ask yourself why Yamaha is the only manufacturer to offer extended warranty on snowmobiles...it couldn't possibly be because the other three are afraid their machines wont make it past two years without catastrophic failure could it??

So now it's their philosophies. Ok what of that great Toyota philosophy. Todays artical in the National Post reveals that Toyota paid out 10 million to the family of the August 28th 2009 crash. To my recollection this initiated a forced recall brought on by the goverenment. They recalled 6.5 million Toyota vehicles in the United States.

I just have one question for you. Did your friend, Billy Bob Buckwheat, have anything to do with this colossal screwup?

Yea I don't think we would be here all day. Seems pretty easy to shoot holes in your brand bashing BS :rolleyes:

To my recollection this initiated a forced recall brought on by the goverenment. They recalled 6.5 million Toyota vehicles in the United States.

I just have one question for you. Did your friend, Billy Bob Buckwheat, have anything to do with this colossal screwup?

He had a point in the 80's and 90's but North American manufacturing has since surpassed that of the Japanese. Japan is in a huge financial crisis and cutting corners to save money is now the norm rather than the exception. They still make decent stuff but you have to be carefull, I know my Griz needed a lot of warranty work before it was reliable enough to trust beyond a few miles from camp and that only lasted about 1500km before the troubles started again.

Well they do tend to tip over once in a while when driving in steep, technical terrain. You know, the kind of places you need a true diff lock to access...

If you need diff lock and your rhino tips over on that trail , one of two things or possibly both have occured.....

#1 You have had way too many pops a long the trail .

#2 You will need a RZR S quite badly ,for your safty.

How about the hundreds of lawsuits on the Rhino for the thing flipping over and maiming people and the fact that Yamaha brushed it under the table for years? Japanese philosophy is to hide their flaws, not admit to them. Unless, of course, they are forced to...haha.

There is a lot of unhappy rhino owners out there . When yamaha refuses to improve thier outdated machine , they take it out on every one else ........ The older rzr`s are an awesome machine and very reliable , this next generation should be very interesting to say the least !

Oh I know Rhino's are underpowered...I have no illusions about that. But I stand by the fact that a 40 horsepower Yamaha will still move quicker than a 1-2 humanpower Polaris after one of the critical components which was made by the lowest bidder and then assembled by some lazy union worker on a friday afternoon conks out. In essence: A big, loud, flashy, expensive Fisher Price toy...you couldn't pay me to own one. Just my opinion...I'm not trying to change anyone else's.

Polaris: The Way Out, just not the way back.

Are you sure it's not...Polaris: The Way Out, to the garage to fix it.
Or....Polaris: The Way Out, to see the dealer for warranty or to open your wallet because the warranty ran out.

Put down the crack pipe there bud. Yamaha admitted fault for not putting doors on the machines and the lawsuits they are currently paying are to people with leg injuries because of this. A bunch of ambulance chasing bottom feeders recently tried to sue yamaha again over the rollover issue and yamaha hired it's own investigation team and discovered that 98% of the claims these guys were filing were a result of driving at excessive speed, driving under the influence, operating the machine on pavement without approved tires, and not wearing helmets. Operate the machine as it's designed to be operated and it's perfectly safe. Maybe if our greedy neighbors to the south would stop sueing yamaha they would be more inclined to produce a more sport-oriented machine. And don't try and tell me that the north American manufacturers don't try and hide the flaws in their products...anybody try and get a warranty claim on a first year chevy duramax when every single one of the torque converters in their Allison tranny's blew up? Everything breaks down I don't care who builds it, my point was that the domestic manufactures seem to be the only ones who purposely DESIGN things to break down.

You said it, a U.S. government forced recall. I don't suppose you considered the possibility that the government did that to swing sales back in favor of the domestics, boost the struggling economy, and get their bailout money back did you? It's not like the domestic manufacturers have ever had any safety issues...odd that the government has never forced ford, GM, or chrysler to recall their entire fleets.

Like I said, we could be here all day...
