In another thread, there were a few jabs going back and forth about brand bashing. Everyone has an opinion about their particular brand and how its so much better than another or that someone elses brand copied theirs
Here's my issue with this, in nearly 11 years of mountain riding there have only been a couple of times where someone on another brand has ever come and ridden with me or my group just to see if they could hang with our Doos.
I love the challenge. If you can climb higher, faster through more difficult terrain than me, I wanna ride with you. If its your sled thats making the difference, I wanna know that too! maybe my next sled will be like yours.
unfortunately its always the same scenario. We'll be messing around in an area while a few "other" brand riders will watch for a couple minutes and then move on.
If you see the 13 XM with the goofy General Lee decals on it, come on over and SHOW me how your sled is better than mine.

Tgis would be fun to see, it is all rider to some degree but equipment can really factor in, I'd like to see two guys like Rasmussen and Burandt on each machine puttih them through the paces, the thing with this is it's pretty hard to truly compare any other way, I put my turbo against an 880 doo abd they have their points but you can't really decide because of rider experience eyc, let the bashing continue and threads be plugged lol

I think it's kind of a symptom of society.. and how skewed we truly can be. There was a time where the worst possible insult would be to bash someone's mother. The woman who gave us life, fed us, raised us and gave us our morals and values. That would indeed have been an insult. Now as we have become more materialistic, a person's identity becomes incredibly wrapped up in the Home he owns, the car he drives and the sled he brapps on. Now instead of the "Yo Momma" kind of mentality we bash stuff.. for that is where most of the value in our society is eh.
Frick I love riding my polaris sled. I work at a place that sells poos and cats.. do I want peeps to buy the.. hell ya.. I like having food on the table. Kids are loud when they don't eat. Do I care if my best friend rides a doo? Ya no.. I care that we get to go out and have fun time together. I seriously believe that all brands have their merits. It doesn't matter. The viability of the sport matters to me.
It's a sled. The activity that links us together should not be divided by the brand we ride.

Its the rider not the brand period

I agree that when doing a comparison you need to have two equally skilled riders. Although Last year I was able to ride my XP 163 and then a friends Pro RMK 163 on the same hill and my sled was absolutely the better of the two.

I will qualify this however by saying that I am much more comfortable and used to my own sled.

I think alot of it is "percieved" brand bashing as well. If someone comes on here and asks whether to buy an XP or an M series.........its a no brainer. XP all the way. Not because Im doo loyal......because its a better chassis. I like skidoo. But if someone came on asking whether to buy a ZX chassis or a pro rmk.......hey, another no brainer. Id have too pull my supposed doo blinders off and tell the guy to buy the Pro.

And for the guys that honestly like the M series, or some other older chassis....thats great. Thats the most important thing, that you love what you ride. But I honestly think if you jumped off an M onto any of the newer chassis like the XM,XP, Rev, Pro, IQ, Proclimb and honestly gave them a chance you would have the same opinion.

Biggest thing to remember is this is hobby, past time, recreational activity......call it whatever you want. Dont let yourself get too upset about it if someone dares to say the sled you ride isnt the best sled ever made.

Bottom line is we have some pretty freakin amazing sleds to pick from these days. I would gladly ride any of the new sleds the top three are putting out. Been thinking about getting a new sled and its honestly a coin toss between the RMK and the XM. Love the Doo chassis, but you cant ignore how light the RMK is. Throw the cat engine in either one of those and it would be game over. Doo has a good engine, but they just dont have the lifespan the suzukis do.
