Thanks Bill! I'm hoping not either, but also banking on it being around 2 g's...ouch

part it out and upgrade? still would be able to get 2-3g out of it without the engine, if parts of the engine are salvagable, and pick up something over the summer, only problem is once again have no idea what your getting.

unless you buy off kijiji then everything has a fresh top, and bottom end last week and is 100% ready to rip.

I would except for the fact that I still owe $7600 + interest on it...this is part of the whole long winded me getting taken by the guy that sold it to me. The effin thing is going to cost me $11,500 at the end of financing...:realmad::rant:

Dealer added $2000 worth of "extras" into the financing, used a broker and added 2 years onto the financing without telling me, and coincidentally I never had to sign the page where the financial break down was. I was also never given a copy of any of the papers. Having never bought a sled, or financed anything before I "trusted" him and he said sign, here, here and here and thats what I did. I went into it blind and that was my own fault I guess, I should have looked into it further or brought someone with me so in hindsight I really have no one to blame but myself, but at the same time, I like to trust people aren't gonna f**k me. Worst part is it was the owner that did this....grrrrrr :realmad::rant:

And no I won't say the name of the dealer because I don't think that's appropriate to just post.

ok i understand, but really the worst part is that you didn't even get a kiss. we went through the same kinda bs through a dodge dealer with our cherokee, i ll trade ya straight up for you lemon liberty we sold you, was in the shop 30 of the 45 days we had it, 1 yr newer 100000k less cherokee. sure sounds good, as we were in the process of going to a different dealer at the time. went back to the dealer then and checked it out ya all looks good, we had dealt with this dealer before so had a relationship in place of trust, he said take the unit and we willcall you when the paperwork is done to sign it. so a couple days later we get the call i was away at work wife goes in and signs i get end sheet faxed to me and i sign and fax back. find out when we go to trade in to buy my pick up that we had a 10g buy out at the end of our term:eek::eek::realmad: so much for straight up.

Yeah that's not cool at all. Sorry to hear your luck on that. I guess I need a team of lawyers with me if I finance anything ever again. Or...just get the money from the bank and pay the dealer out.

I took this as a hard learned life lesson that hopefully I will NEVER have to learn again.

You got fleeced that hard and aren't willing to name the dealer?

If I paid 11k for an 04 summit, I would be shouting from the rooftops to warn people about such a shady dealer.

You could buy a fawkin 2012 summit SP for that price... Holy fawk!

Sorry about your luck.

Wow! Thank you so much for the offer! See, this is exactly what I love about the sledding community, no shortage of people offering to help which is amazing.

I have my sled at the shop I work at because it's heated, plenty of space, have a forklift to raise it up and a work bench. Plus it's closer to where the guys I usually sled with live. So more convenient for them. I really appreciate the offer though, more than you know!

Once I start taking her apart I will keep you guys posted. If we run into issues or get stuck I'll throw up a post on this thread again. Otherwise I'm having the guys over Weds after work and you are welcome to swing by! haha Sled wrenching party as there will be beer and pizza, lol.

This dealer has zero bad reputation, this is the only thing, that I've heard at least that he did that was shady. I think he just got greedy. I just wish he would have said "Hey, you know for an extra $40 a month, and 2 years of payments you can get a NEW sled".

I just don't like to slander people's names if I can help it. If people want to know who it is, they can PM me directly.

The first time my sled went their was a bad ticking going on in the engine, next thing i knew clouds of white smoke (coolant) $1600 later with a rebult engine i took it for a spin, and it just died, $1000 later and a new stator its going again...... 2 days later, bad ticking noise was back then boom (no smoke this time) took out a plug and saw alluminum filings on it. took it to the dealer piston went lean and took the jugs with it.....

Hopefully you dont need to go through the same chit i did, next time something happens i'm going to get a brand new engine.

Best of luck to you!!

Yeah I remember your thread on that. Depending on the issue I may just go with a new crate motor. But we'll see what she looks like tomorrow!

how many miles?

shortblocks are dirt cheap on the 800ho and bulletproof. sometimes not worth a rebuild if youve got some miles on it.

I don't know about dirt cheap but completely agree that a new crate engine is the way to go.

Thanks Bill! I'm hoping not either, but also banking on it being around 2 g's...ouch

You should be able to do it for around $2k, i think that's what i had in with gaskets, new carb boots, coolant, etc.

Here's a pic of my new motor i picked up from Martin. You could have it running in a few hours if you go this way. Should still be awhole thread on my build up in the skid-doo REV section.

Today is the day! I start ripping my baby apart tonight at 5pm and trying to figure out what is going on. I am nervous as $hit to see the damage, and to maybe have this be the end of my season.

But a HUGE part of me is excited to roll up my sleeves, get my hands dirty and learn a $hit ton about my sled.

Fingers crossed I get some luck on both sides! :D

That'd be amazing! Let me see what I find and get an estimate on cost. If it's a lot I gotta start saving my pennies now. Was supposed to be on vacation for the month of April...looks like that won't be happening now :(

lol you know you like sledding when you ditch your vacation to fix it

I do love sledding, and would rather get her fixed up than go away. The rest of my money's going to finishing my garage so I can work on her there :D

Just calling around out of curiosity for parts. Cheapest short block so far is $1,298 plus $700 I can get back for sending them mine back. Would have to find someone in the states in Montana to send it to and drive to pick it up. But thats the best price so far, plus a road trip! :D
