the guy at martins lied. just did the engine in Beachsleds unit last week. has caged bearings. was summitrics ex engine. so maybe you cant get them from martins but you can get them. head looks to me like it will be ok just clean it up a bit. looks like she got a little lean on that side.

From the looks of it bogger she leaned out on ya on the one side and got fairly hot.

Yes run your first take of fuel through with oil in it. Call up the boys at specialty sleds just off of the yellow head and ask them how much on a fresh rebuild, they do alot of work on the doo's.

Also when you call them ask them if they have the caged bearings. They exist and from my most recent experience with Martin I wouldn't suspect the would be able to find there azz if their thumb was shoved up it.

We'll see what there work is like when I pick up my buddies sled. Martin quoted $7100+ and charged me $250.00 for the estimate.

Specialty had a look at it for free, confirmed the damages and came in under $4000.00.... Big differance in pricing and actually did look at the sled for damage not just a butcher quote all new parts. I'll have to remember Mountain Magic for the next time I smack up a sled though.

I'm doing the rebuilding myself...

Said and done It'll be 3-$500 ( if I can re-use my head ) already have everything I need. Picked up the gasket, bearing retainer clips, along with some chaincase oil and BRP 2 stroke oil.

Tomorow I pick up the piston, rings, get jugs honed and will get a hands on opinion on the head,,,wouldn't surprise me if Rob has an extra head or 2.

I've already picked up the non-caged bearing but I'll call specialty tomorow and see about a caged. I will however have access to every bombardier specialty tool known to man and an official BRP shop manual on my machine which I will get to keep.

So like I said before hopefully I have all parts by tomorow, spend wed night cleaning up the machine, belly pan, carbs, chaincase ect and thursday re-assembly of the top end....

Lets pray for snow...... Might be thinking about a trip out to Wildwood next weekend, chip lake is a nice area to ride and I'm pretty sure they have more snow than us:d:d

I ran a head worse than that for few seasons on a '98 X and it never skipped a beat - compression was same as the other hole too.

alot of the brp pistons use a j eclip in short a real bit... you have one shot to install them e clip installer is a small slide hammer you stick the eclip into the
sleeve put tight against the wrist pin give a good hit with palm hand works
great .I just did a friends pol and i forgotten the tool at home what a bit..

Avoided a catastophy...... piston I have is 72.5mm...one I need is 69mm...Plio pointed out the new one was domed and the old one was not, this made Us take a closer look....3/16 diffence in top stroke. If gone un-noticed I would have blown the head to pieces...

Kutos to Echo, they dug up part #'s did comaprisons for me and helped me with part #'s I need, now hopefully Riverside will exchange my piston for me (it was purchased there).....

Let me know if you can't find one, I have two fresh BRP pistons sitting on the bench. I don't need 'em right away and I can order another one.

I thought about that, but the existing cluch side piston is unscathed... not a knick on it, so I figured at $210 per piston I'd save myself the 210 and reuse mine..... realistically if I get picky I can turn my $200 rebuild into a $1500 rebuild (head, 2 pistons, ect) I have a new set of rings for the existing piston so I was just gonna change the rings..... Is that thinking fugged???????
