Hey guys. So, I'm looking to dress up my 2013 RMK Assault this year with some billet wheels from Tricked Toys, and was wondering what people like to use better, and why? The billet wheels with the rubber or without the rubber? So, the rubber on the wheel stops the ice and snow from sticking? Is it really that big of an issue?

I would think the rubber coated would provide less track wear.

Huge issue. I've got 2 sets of 500$ wheels hanging on my wall for this reason. Without the rubber they buildup ice and vibrate so bad it feels like the machine is falling apart. I don't even know why they sell them the other way.

I've got straight billet on one of my old sleds and while ice can buildup it tends to be a universal thin layer and I haven't noticed the vibration Maxwell pointed out.

I've seen the wheels ice up to the point it wrecked the track from rubbing the track rubber. At the back axle wheels.

sent while I should be drinking twisted teas

Ya the tricked toys wheels do not do that. Or perhaps it's the different snow types we ride in.

Maybe I'm wrong here but I don't think I had a single problem last year with mine.
I don't heat my trailer and the sled and wheels are always cold. So does this help, it must.
However the running of the sled must transfer heat to the wheels so I'm not sure just how much ice build up I was getting.

Ya!!!!! This has happened to 4 2 wheel axel kits from them!!!! Every time half way through the season one of the wheels explodes a bearing and destroys the axle and wheel. I don't know if they are Using cheap bearings or what. But I'm pissed its cost me and my group so much money.

We ride in the same range within about 100-150km of each other.

Never had any trouble with Ice Age wheels and they don't have rubber on them.
When I installed my rear wheels I looked at 2 wheel but was told that it was hard on bearing life if running big track. (174)
I went four wheel as if you do have bearing trouble you have three more wheels.
With only 2 wheels you are screwed.
IMO

I would go with some rubber, ive run all alu before, some trips to the mountians the billets are fine, no snow build up and then the next trip can be totally opposite, vibration drive you crazy.

Put some sort of pledge or banking oil coating on them to help the snow fall off. Kind of like you do to fenders to keep from mud build up.

Same as Maxwell, I have two sets of billet wheels hanging in my shop as well... in a certain snow condition/temperature and mine would build up so bad that you would think the brakes were on.. I tried the pledge and pam trick but need to apply regular so applied a set of wheels with rubber on them!! :)
