Take the decals off if they're not needed. I took my "caution" stickers of my tunnel. I left the "155" stickers on and just tried my best to go around them. They did get a tad faded around the edges from getting a bit to close.

Very carefully by hand. I only have one decal on my sled (the small Canadian flag) as all the rest get torn and worn and look disgusting after a season. Doo not rub the decals with polish and remove any residual black stuff off before moving on as it will show.
I have 1 bottle remaining and I'm thinking with the new sleds being powder coated the need for the last bottle is no more. PM me for details.
PS for those reading and interested, this sled is for sale.
The Peterbilt (or is it Freightliner?) dealer on 114th Ave SE sells the F1 polish and a bunch of others that I have found work as well. The truck dealer is just east of Princess Auto off Barlow.

My experience with tunnel polishing tells me I'd be more concerned with getting the yellow plastics dirty with the residue. The stuff is wicked in dulling and making things black.
My recommendation would be to take the plastics off and then you don't have a problem trying to clean them up.
Makes total sence!! I'll do that. It was going to be in the way anyway.
So I went to Peterbuilt and was looking at the F1. There were different grits so I asked the parts guy if you needed all the grits. He said dont buy F1 use "Wicked" metal polish it works better...... SOOOOO thats what I bought. They actually had three or four types as well as the clay bars and the bar polishing wheels.
I messed around for about 10 minutes with my drill and buff ball and this is what I ended up with... Not bad for ZERO effort. Going to see if I can borrow my neighbours buffing grinder(for lack of a better word) with cloth pads.

I find that the "PURPLE" metal polish by california customs (or something like that) metal polish works very well.
Chipping away at it. The polish is working well but having some hazing so I went and got some F1 coarse and medium. The coarse is really coarse and will scratch... but the medium seems to take them out. I am then doing it a third time with the Wicked. Only problem now is Where do you stop!!! LOL

Taping wasn’t too bad. I over taped the decal on all sides and took a brand new exacto blade and traced (cut) the decal out carefully.Probably did cut into the aluminum a tiny bit in places which will be noticeable if I ever remove the decals...... Guess I'll deal with that later if I ever need to.
This is the one time I'm regretting owning two sleds......
Then again will be twice the satisfaction when done.
Also I'm a firm believer that you don’t actually remove the tarnish off of the sled, you just move it to another location... Like your hands, arms and clothing. What a mess! LOL.
Edit... WD40 removes the black wax residue really easily if you get some on other parts of your sled.......

Looks real good now you can admire it allllll summer . sure makes them look good though hay.
