How much range gets cut off from the tiny antenna?

RGM's kits come pre-programmed with external mic & long antenna.
Not worth the time and hassle to save $20 for the work that he's put into the kits he's selling. We bought another 12 from him last year - no reason to even look anywhere else.

Never had an issue with either version. T1 has excellent range.

Correct. Some of our crew use the bca so these work for us. Even T1 to T1 they work great. Range seems to be quite long. Will see how they perform as the season continues.

That is true, but to be fair it is small, light and will transmit 1k or so, but then again Costco has two way radios that would work just as good or better. Packing say a heavier quansheng that pumps out 11 watts of power and reaches out over 2 mountain ranges is over kill in my opinion.

so you guys are using these baofeng radios for calling up/down the logging roads and backpack/ shoulder radios? with being higher power any different influence on beacons?

I bought a couple of the BCA link radios last year but i find they are not very loud/ clear and i had to tape the channel selector, always seemed to be talking to myself lol

For the channel selector make A,B and C your groups channel.

We run Kenwoods and Motorola ( have a few Baofeng ) and I highly recommend them, we have the military spec mic and they work great,, all the logging channels and s&r and other emergency channels are programmed in, You pay more but you get more too

RGM here on Snow and Mud will set you up. Radio, mic, long antenna, mic cover, pre programmed ready to go. Very good to deal with.

First Link is the CSV file for 100 channels to program your Radio with, all good channels with mountain specific channels for golden revy etc.

Second link is to download CHirp which you can copy and paste the CSV file into.

You need the USB program cable buy the more expensive one

Buy the Baofeng radio of your choice

Copy and paste for all your friends. Also nice to change the display to Name instead of Frequency and operate it in channel mode.

The frequency on RR-04 should be 150.185. It was a mistake on my part. This is one of my old lists.
