well I would say the ktm 250 sx feels the lightest and well it goes like snot. the CR 250R is great for reliablity. the yz 250 has the best motor. they all have there pro's and cons. yamaha and ktm are prety much the only people still making the 250 2 stroke.

for ktm 2007 and up (newest chassis). for yamaha somthing with th aluninum frame so 2005 and up.

with the yamaha though, youre looking for 2007 and up as well. 2007 nand on comes with the SSS suspension. That stuff is beautiful.

Another thing to think about is engine characteristics. They YZ has more of an ``off or on`` kind of motor, while the KTM`s engine feels like the power rolls on a bit easier.

Both excellent bikes.

I have a 2008 KTM250sx. It is in mint condition. I`m selling it for $5500. bike has almost no use. I`m thinking of the KTM350sxf. Let me know if youre interested. could send you some pictures.

I really like my CR 250. light, nimble and easy to start and easy to fix.

KTM 250 in an SX (track) or an XCW (bush). I ride mine both on the track and in the hills and it does both quite well. Great power, great handling, and totally legal in the back country with very few mods. IMHO, look for an 08/09 250 XCW or 300 XCW and you won't have to add much to make it legal for off road use and is easy to connect lights to as it has a stator and wiring on it.

I have been riding a 04 rm 250 for 3 years now and i will tear through trails, climb hills, jump and race her and she has not let me down yet, lots of low end power on her so no complaints on it.
