one of my brothers was looking into consumer proposal. It doesn’t impact the credit rating as bad , I think you can keep a bit more of your assets but need to come to an agreement on monthly payment for a couple or few years. Might be a better compromise?

do your research and ask a lot of questions of these credit councillors- consumer proposal will affect your credit rating, same as bankruptcy, still be on your credit score for 7 years

i have gone thru bankrupcy in 89 over a lousy $30,000 .i was a a oil field contractor who didnt get paid from Esso for 120 days. my bank called my loan in 90 days ?.not nice.we can keep a vehicle worth up to $8000 , we didnt own a home at the time.so it wasnt a issue, at least then we could, might be higher value now. u cant hide anything u have registered, they will find out and u have to explain where it went and how much u got for it. selling something for a $1 to a buddy doesnt work. they go back 90 days before u declare.Best ask a Bankrupcy lawyer, not us on here, not many on here have gone thru it.

If you're in financial difficulties let it go for $2500 to a new owner! It actually feels good to sell things, cancel the insurance, gain the storage space back. You can always replace it down the road.
