Competent crew would have that sewn up and driveable, ready for pavement in 3 weeks once the water is lower. Too bad it will be a highways job and will cost 5 times more than it should and take 7 times longer than it should.

Saw it on the news last night. They already had a ton of equipment out there.Figured a couple days to get a temp fix on one side so traffic could use it.But,you're right, they will make a summer-long project out of it.

Yeah, they will make it passable but will not get the compaction, just enough to get the traffic through. They will have to do one side so they can open the highway temporarily, work on the other side in the meantime, finish one side then open it for traffic, then go back and rip up the side they installed to open the highway temporarily and re-do it properly. Right now they are just working with a stop-gap measure. I hope they have a bigger culvert on order already as well, no point in putting two more of the same size back in, but they probably will.

Even with all the work to both sides, it still should only take 3 weeks. What do I know though, its not like I deal with construction logistics all day........;)

thats what happens when you fill in the river valley and put in a couple of culverts..........bridge would hace cost more to put in but traffic'd still be flowing.
Do you still get insurance if you build in a flood plain?

It is a real mess out this was. Alot of golf courses said they are done for the year to repair the damage. The highwas are destroyed, bridges are out here there and everywhere. Alot of people have insurance but depending on what you carry alot of them will be on there own. Right now the traffic is getting detoured up highway 41 to Oyen where you can enter into Sask and go to where you need from there.. If you know the area there are other roads to take. Sorry to all the people who lost any or all of their possessions. :(
Will try and post some pics
