Do you have the GPS coordinates of the sled? Looking on Google Earth, you should be able to take it right down to the Dore Creek trail, but you would have to take it slow. Here's a pic of the area...

Go easy if you decide to try to get to the Dore trail. Looks like a real long way down. Get more topo info. Hopefully your buddy can get it out. Good Luck and be safe about it!!

Do not take it any further down, You can not come out the bottom. It may look like it on google but it has some pretty extreme drop offs on the way down. I would not attemp to go down, Up is the way out!!

I have to agree, I have seen the backside and I would not even dream of trying to go down. It looks good on Google but it does not do it justice. Good luck:beer:

This is a pic of that area. I would not want to try and make it to the bottom.

Looking at the terrain data again, you would have to make a route on a GPS and be comfortable trusting it, as there are many slopes that could be carved down (assuming a certain skill level here), but also a few that you wouldn't want to make the mistake of trying. I guess it all comes down to doing some research and deciding whether you are comfortable taking that risk. Chopper rides aren't cheap, but neither is replacing a sled when you miscalculate your route down. Keep us updated as to what you end up doing. Good Luck

I appreciate the input, and McBride local knowledge has been greatly appreciated. The weather has been socked in all weekend....Unfortuneatly was unable to drop down over ridge for any kind of vantage point until the weather clears. I would like to thank Byron, Randy and crew for there efforts and knowledge Saturday. I have left the recover in capable hands of Sled Den, Steve, Perry and Rod were excellent to talk with and I feel better heading home and leaving the sled with professionals. Like to point out that no matter how much you think you know a place, when conditions are white out beyond the sled hood, it is very, very easy to get disorientated!! Thanks to all for efforts so far and fingers crossed that recover will go easy.

Just add that I do have some google image maps that I would post, but decided to leave that info with sled den until recover of sled. Hopefully the sled is where I think it is and after will post some mapping images.

Right now it is like finding a neele in a hay stack because of all the fresh snow and not a positive location of where the sled is.

We have a guy going up again today so cross your fingers.

We are making an expedition for location tomorrow. I am confident since I parked the sled that I will be able to go right to it.....At least that is the optimism that I am going with. Going to stop tomorrow morning at Sled Den before venturing out to talk about our plans. Just hoping for sunshine and visibilty for an excellent day of mountaineering! Once back, sled located and plan to get out, will post some feedback so maybe someone can learn from my experience......
