My main question is economy with no load and with a few toys.I am referring only ones with the aluminum body. i know a person with the diesel who enjoys the hell out of the combination but in his business pull s way heaver loads than i will.

I have two friends that have them. Both f350 4x4, one long box one short crew cabs, 6.2 with the 4.3 rear axle ratio. Both pull bumper pull trailers and carry quads on a deck. Running unloaded they get 14-17 mpg and loaded get around 10-11. One came from a 2007ish duramax and the other from a ford 6.0 around the same year.
They both say they have no trouble keeping up with traffic in any situation and say the only obvious differences with the diesels is the gassers rev higher on the hills. One of them is really detail oriented and figures in the almost year he's had it his operating costs all in are about 15% better than the duramax.

My boss has a 17 right around 25000km on it now. He has issues with it burning a tank of urea to a tank of fuel. It's a dually 4 door. He's taking it on some levels no road trips and 1300km to tank of fuel is the best he's got empty. It's got a 184l tank so not as good as I thought it would get. Driving around town 27l to 100. And all the tire sensors corroded and leaked, there must be an issue with them as they were on back order for 2 weeks

I should add it's a very nice truck to ride and drive in. Rides good and tons of power! I might be getting old but I don't think you would ever need more power.

Where is the operating costs savings? Not in fuel and, so just oil changes and fuel filters???

Ooops I should of read the title better. I just assumed diesel didn't see the gasser. Sorry about that. I would buy that 6.2 gas before the diesel

He figures fuel costs were a wash because of diesel being more expensive than regular gas. So must be oil changes, oil and air filters, fuel treatment etc.

Might say those numbers if you hit the reset going down hill! My experience Gas or diesel, loaded up burns almost twice the fuel as empty. That 14-17 turns into 7-8.5.

Easy to find out how good it really is if you can go loaded from Edmonton to Valmont with out fuelling on the 110-120 litre tank.

My bet is they get real nervous when they pass jasper.

Maybe the new aluminum body's doubled the economy but my buddies f250 gasser drinks fuel pretty good with just sleds on the deck, no trailer. But it's a couple years older the the op request.

Depends on how heavily you load them. The '17 ford 6.2 develops its max torque much lower than the previous years. That coupled with a shorter rear axle ratio makes a huge difference in economy. If you're hauling 10K + the diesel is the machine. Below that the gassers are an excellent option. I plan on selling my diesel in the spring and getting a properly equipped gasser.

I drove a demo f150 around Lethbridge the other day. It had the ecoBoost motor and a 10 speed transmission. This truck was supposed to have the highest GVW rating of any of the half tons. It was a nice ride and it also had the automatic motor shut down while stopped at a light. That was an interesting feature.

Have a 2016 f150 Eco . Real nice truck other then the glass is complete junk.
Any small little ding and it's toast . Cracks all over.
Another inspector at work has a 2017 f350 and same thing with glass.
Front completely screwed.
Side window cracked
Sun roof cracked
They don't use tempered glass anymore on side or roofs. That's a good thing but really thin and weak.

Replace with internally tinted glass?
