Any O/O out there?

So myself and a good friend of mine have been throwing around the idea of getting into business together. We're looking at picking up a semi and heated reefer mostly for doing oilfield chem hauling. Going to be focusing more around fraccing but open to anything really. We both have quite a bit of miles driving bush roads so that would be a non-issue and we both have lots of experience dealing with the chemicals we would possibly be hauling. Anyone have any advice or tips on getting started? I'm completely new to the idea of running my own business type thing.

And be ready for all the Hidden or unexpected/didn't know about costs.

It cost alot to learn!! Research everything atleast twice and ask lots of questions.

Make sure you take out " Zero " for a salary for 2 yrs cause when there is fawk all going on you'll need to still pay the bills. There is a 1/3 third of the rigs working that was forcasted right now and alot of stuff going over seas. Oh and

All the above stated is very true. A good friend of mine went bust twice with friends as partners. Ended up buying them out each time. But that's business and if a partnership is needed to pool funds and get it off the ground ... so be it. I'm an independent O/O and have been for many yrs. Pm me and we will talk.

If you decide to partner,draft a contract with a good lawyer. Include a shot gun clause.

Also be sure at the bank you have only dual signatures and find an impartial third party that you give signing authority too. That way if something happens to one of you the business can carry on with business as usual.

One of the things we definitely have going for us is neither of us cares how much we work and we both want out of where we are now. We've worked together for a long time. I may possibly have an investor to help get off the ground now as well.

Just be cautious as the big dogs out there can/will chew ya up and spit ya out AND not lose a minute of sleep over it.
