The irony in this is when the NDP is told some Albertan's can't afford the carbon tax they say to downgrade your vehicle to something cheaper and abstain from their lavish lifestyle, yet when the government encounters rough times they increase spending, hire more government employees and borrow more money. Hypocrites.

Apparently they are saying on Inews 880 Jason Kenny is easily going to win the leadership for the PC party. Good news for Wildrose because he is running on the platform that he wants to dissolve the PC party and join with Wildrose.... bad news for NDP

Whatever they decide to do they need to do it and soon. Election is 2 years away. The right cannot afford another split vote and allow the NDP to sneak in the back door. If that were to happen hopefully it would be a minority government and they can give them the boot.
Unfortunately either the PC's or Wildrose will be made out to be the bad guys. Cuts have to be made to reign in spending if we ever hope to get back into the black. Cuts the public sector and their unions are not gonna like. Not to mention all the freeloading SJW's and libtards who like their free ride from this socialist government.
Either way we desperately need to unite the right under a common banner and for everyone to get out and vote. The NDP has to go.

A lot of political pundits are saying they think Notley will call an early election if the right unites to try and catch the newly formed party in a state of disorganization and no money yet in their coffers. Not sure if this will work but my thoughts are if you ever wanted to donate to a political party that will be the time IMO. They are saying parties cannot bring monies forward from existing parties to new parties so they will be broke when they first start up.

I recently bought $10 membership's with the PC party and the Wildrose party on the recommendation of Derek Fildebrandt at a Wildrose town hall I attended on unity. Both parties will take the unity plan to their grassroots for a vote as it is in their constitution's. The PC 's will need a 50% plus 1 result and the WR will need a 75% result for unity to happen. Having a membership is the only way you have a say in the end result so he is saying to join so you can help push this through. He feels the PC will be tough as their are still lots of the old guard that want the party to stay intact so the PC's may need more help than the Wildrose which has seen over 95% approval in straw votes at recent town halls. All of this is contingent on Jason Kenney winning the PC leadership today. If he doesn't win? Vote Wildrose next election I guess?

Any bets on a provincial sales tax in our future?

With the 71 billion debt forecast by the time we get rid of the Ndp and likely that estimate is low (what politician ever forecasts the truth on debt). Hard to believe in 2 years Ndp have created 3x the debt that all Alberta governments created from 1905 to 2015.

Sadly , I have seen this before.... I hope the good people of Alberta has patience with the next incoming government.

They will be in a difficult position , to put it extremely mildly....

Ive always been curious about this. If our provincial government had any brains or balls at all, can they just flat out say no to making transfer payments?

Yup. It's called western separation. The only chance we'll ever have to achieve our full economic potential.

Not defending the NDP but how quickly people forget how much $ the Alberta conservatives pissed away. Executive jets, travel for families, lavish office reno's.... among other issues like not building new schools when there was money flowing.
They are all crooks in one way or another. Say what they need to get in power then do whatever suits their hidden agendas.

I agree pano. Hopefully by 4:30 MST we will see the end of the PC government in Alberta. Thank you Ed Stelmack and Allison Redfraud. You should take full responsibility for the mess we are in now.

While I agree with you at least they pissed it away when times were good and were more careful when they weren't. Can't say the same for ndp. They've not only pissed away money they've created more job loss, raised and created taxes, and discouraged investment. Hopefully Kenny wins, pc loses their p and merges with wildrose.

Dumbest post of the new year right here folks ...
NO not all governments are the same !!
Notwithstanding the fact that all politicians are out for them selves ( just like any other able minded person) the fact remains we will be in debt for about 80 billion by the time they (NDP) are done ....
The money the cons wasted ( while I don't like it ) is peanuts compared to the damage done by incapable idiots in control of our financial destiny!

For the millionth time , because all politicians line their own pockets ,does not make them all equally capable of governing a province or country !!!

This reasoning is very dangerous, and largely responsible for the mess and deficit we are in provincially, as well as federally.....

How? Everything in that post is based on fact.

All those reasons and then some are why Albertan's were so fed up with the PC's that the NDP got in. Had Stelmach, Redford and to some extent Prentice got off their high and mighty horse and listened to the people of Alberta they would still be in power today. Which is the exact same reason that Notley will have are hard time in the next election, promise the public one thing and then do another after being voted in.

If you read my post it explains it quite clearly ....
While it was a piss poor job by Redford & stelmach , of that there is no dought .
HOWEVER, would we of been better off with prentice in power ? God dam rights ...
Sending a message to Redford / stelmach by putting in an NDP goverment is like using a loaded shotgun to clear your sinuses....
It works , but it's a steep price that the person sending the message pays ...to get his point across!

Had Prentice not convinced Danielle Smith and other Wildrose members to cross the floor just before the election she would be Premier and non of this would be happening. So I still place this ALL on the shoulders of the PC party. It would have been a Wildrose government put in power to show it to Redford and Stelmach.

Maybe it is a steep price to pay, but every now and then people need a reality check to show them how green the grass actually isn't on the other side.

My guess is the next election will have the highest turn out we have seen in a long time.

Had Prentice not called an election early, I think he would have won the people's trust back. That also had a lot to do with it

I'm worried there are enough stupid people among us who voted them in once, they may again. They still have supporters right now, that says a lot. Anyone who doesn't hate the NDP needs to be called out, I know I don't hesitate to call someone for what they are, an idiot if they think the NDP doesn't need to go.

As far as Stelmach screwing us over in the same league as Redford and Prentice, I think you guys got your facts messed up.....

Let's hope the person running for the Bloc who wants to separate wins, we need Quebec talking separate again!
