Got this from the Swedish Cat site. The "Snoskoter 2012 Snabbfakta Sheet"

It lists the 2012 TZ1 Turbo LXR with a VIKT KG of 317 kg (not sure if that is wet or dry)

317 kilogram = 698.86537113lbs

without someone stepping up the game and building the first factory turboed mountain sled the competition for all the companies wouldnt be there cause cutting down the weigt of all the new sleds in every brand cant go to much further down since u always have to think about realibility and cost effective for production

I think what he was trying to say is not all of us are into pulling the biggest baddest hill with nothing in the way. Which is where the Turbo will shine, Cat or Yamaha, if you enjoy riding in the trees and playing around the M8 or XP or Pro would be better suited for you. If you call BS on a sled being too heavy for some riding styles then you are not very aware of where some of us ride. Until they step up the game to the point that a four stroke comes in a 450lbs or less I will never own one no matter what the HP output. It's just more fun to throw around a light sled when your in the trees. As for the looks I like them all, well except the Yamaha but hey that's why we have more than one company building them its all about choices and now the die hard cat guys have some really good ones.

I wouldnt go that far. these things arent tried tested and true 4 stroke turboes. I dont anybody that rides a turbo yammy that doesnt feel confident in its reliability. which is huge when your payin those kind of pesos for a snowmachine. I predict they are gonna take a few years to get all the bugs worked out. how long did it take to get the bugs worked out of the yamahas??? there are still only a couple truly turnkey turbo kits out there. Highly doubtful your gonna sway true turbolovers in the first couple years. IMO

The turbo isnt new , so i give it a 50/50 test. Stated before that these sleds have been sort of tested, by no means has some azzhat that has the coin to go buy one and beat the snot out of it. We are also not talking about 25g for a sled, it is a 177ish hp factory turbo that you can walk out the door under 19g . That waranty is good for as soon as you do one mod, just a guess. IMO

So untill these are 100% tested by Joe Hitatree bash and pick on them, then the defender can throw the egg and the bashers can wear it..

This azzhat has rolled his once (expensive lesson) and rode it very hard. I'm not a mountain rider but I've put mine through the ringer and she still sings pretty good.
I haven't heard of any real problems with the four stroke design, though I haven't heard of any with 30,000 km on either. I think it's a winner but I guess time will tell.

I'm excited about the mountain Turbo and can't wait to hear from the peanut gallery once they're unleashed on the rockies.

Not to start a bash but I missed a trip this week because the Turbo Nitro I was going with Failed, not sure what happened yet he's pulling it apart. The buggers all fail from time to time just like cars and trucks and anything else that has moving parts lol.

So if the 1100 N/A is 123hp turbo adds
7psi boost @ 8hp per 1psi =56hp + 123= 179hp
'Cat claims 177hp but I've seen up to 184hp stock from various sled mags.
there it is boost on stock sled is 7ish psi. But oh so easy to boost.
When my warranty runs out I will chip and add a can. mine is so quite it's hard to tell if it's running when I'm beside my buddies M1000

A chip, a can and methanol injection and you're at 300 hp on PUMP GAS for around $1300.00 over MRSP.

How much over MRSP did your 300 hp cost?

In stock form the Arctic Cat Z1 Turbo that the boys at Bikeman Performance dynoed produced 179.4 horses.

Bikeman tells us that this is only about 60% of this sled's potential though. It is one of the easiest engines to tap into its hidden power reserves and with a few changes the Bikeman guys tell us that they are seeing 291 hp. Here is what they said the kit involves.

Stage 1: Bolt on exhaust. Removal of the stock muffler and turbo outlet manifold and installation of the Bikeman Performance Powder Lite muffler and BMP mini divorced down tube shaves 17 lbs., and claims to net an additional 15 hp, bringing the total to 194.9 hp. The stock fuel injection adjusts to meet the fueling requirements.
Stage 2: Add Bikeman's 4-inch intercooler kit with 2.25-inch aluminum piping. The kit replaces the stock 2-inch rubber hoses that tend to expand, causing loss of horsepower and the smaller stock intercooler. The Bikeman crew says this upgrade gets the power up to 202.1 hp and will still run on stock ECU mapping.
Stage 3: Bikeman has been working with DynoJet to develop the CMD (Combustion Management Device) and says it unlocks the Z1 Turbo's potential. The CMD is fully adjustable with the addition of a manual boost controller and a boost gauge. To get more power just turn the knob to up the boost. A moderate 16 psi of boost will push the Z1 Turbo to 240 hp.


thats copied from an article on Bikeman Performance products. Bikeman says stock boost at 12psi but numbers don't add up to me?

I have once seen a Z1 in Val and it ripped, i have not heard of anyone else with one in the mountains with a true mountain setup . So i dont think the motor has been given fair mountiain time, flat vs mountains. The motor has been tested and i dont read much in the ways of break downs either. No real mountain testing by joe hitatree. that is why i say 50/50
Dont get me wrong in my posts i ride a cat and enjoy it and doubtfull i will change for some time.

there was a z1 turbo in vmont a couple weeks ago...she burned to the ground on the trail but the guy had some some mods to it. not stock so who knows what happened.
